Like you, we have watched, helplessly, from the comfort of our homes. We have listened to the children, to their unspeakable anguish, as they were ripped from the security of their parents' loving arms. Like you, we have hugged our own children, desperately, imagining the unimaginable.
Friends, these are our neighbors. Their journey has already been treacherous. They have suffered and they are suffering. And now, the fate of their families rests in the hands of an administration that has shown it will happily use innocent children as pawns in its petty political games.
Is this really our country? Friends, we don't think so. We have seen your humanity; we know your strength. That's why we're reaching out to ask that you support our asylum relief mission. The first weekend in July, Alice and Sally will travel to South Texas to hand-deliver supplies to our neighbors, and to show them a bit of kindness and grace. If you wish to support our mission, you can be sure that your donations will go directly to our neighbors in need. While material donations will be accepted and appreciated, please note that space will be limited on our trip from Maryland to Texas. Monetary donations are therefore preferred, and will be used to purchase material goods for asylum seekers upon our arrival in Texas.
In addition to the GoFundMe drive for supplies, we will be organizing letter-writing campaigns to reach out to asylum-seeking youth. If you are interested in also participating in this initiative, please reach out to Alice (in Maryland) or Sally (in Tennessee).
