A Prayer For Perry

Perry Jenkins is a 19 year old boy who has gone through so much more than someone his age should. At the age of 2 he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He had a defibrillator/pacemaker implanted a few years later. At 17 years old, not knowing how bad his heart was and his pacemaker not responding to his heart, it caused his body to go into shock. Doctors from Hershey Medical center decided it was time to do something about it. Luckily, with how advanced our technology is, he was able to get a total artificial heart. With this device, he was able to do things he's never done before such as playing basketball and he didn't run out of breath as easy as before. This device has helped him for more than a year. Doctors were truly shocked with how bad his heart was and wondered how he was still alive with it. With how many people were also on the transplant list and his blood type being "O negative" it would be hard for him to receive a heart. After being in the hospital waiting on a heart for 8 months or so, Hershey found a match in July of 2015. During his heart transplant came with a lot of complications such as his lungs filling up with fluid and him being allergic to the blood transfusions. With all of the issues, he ended up being in an induced coma for 2 weeks and lost the ability of knowing how to walk and having to be on dialysis 3 times a week. After his body some what healed from surgery, he went off to rehab to learn how to walk again. Perry was in rehab for a couple of weeks and finally was able to come home November of 2015. Recently, he has been having fevers, coughing, rapid weight loss, tired all of the time, and no appetite. No one thought anything of it and just thought it was either side effects from the tons of medication he takes or even dialysis. He then had to go to the hospital to get checked out. With testing, doctors thought he had pneumonia and then bronchitis. Unfortunately, Perry got mononucleosis during his heart transplant sometime and it caused a tumor in his lung. Doctors have told us he has lymphoma cancer and have started chemotherapy. Perry has been heavily sedated and under paralyzed anaesthesia. Hes on a ventilator, ECMO, kidney dialysis, and also has bleeding in his brain.. Perry is 19, he spent most of his life in the hospital. (He even graduated in the hospital, spent birthdays and holidays there) With this donation it will help contribute with any medical or needs for him. With the power of a prayer, we know how wonderful God's healing can be!
