Anything Everything 4 Water Safety

ANYTHING is EVERYTHING for WATER SAFETY!

December 26, 2010 I survived a drowning accident while surfing in Lake Michigan.

Since then I co-founded the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project (www.GLSRP.org).

Unfortunately though, my passion for water safety is not enough!

Drownings in the Great Lakes continue to rise. Last year there were 88 drownings and since 2010 there have been over 631 drownings in the Great Lakes (updated 11/12/2017).

Question: What's missing?

Answer: A comprehensive Public Water Safety Education Program and a Water Safety School Curriculum!

And right now YOU and the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project have a HUGE opportunity!

The funds raised will support:

1.      Public Great Lakes Water Safety Presentations

2.      School Great Lakes Water Safety Presentations (at least 100 for elementary, junior high, and high school students)

3.      Lifeguards: Open Water Surf Rescue Training (24 hours of training available for each Indiana Lake Michigan Lifeguard)

4.      First Responders: Open Water Surf Rescue and Water Resuscitation Training (for Paramedics, EMTs, Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Water Rescue Teams, Dive Teams, DNR Officers, and Park Employees)

5.      Educational Materials: videos and instructional materials for all of the above

And The Big BONUS! – All educational and training materials, lesson plans, videos, etc. produced for the above programs through the grant will be available for use throughout the Great Lakes region and will become the foundation for the future Great Lakes Water Safety Train-the-Trainer program.

Unfortunately as of today’s date, May, 72018, there have been over 631 drownings in the Great Lakes since 2010.

On average, almost half (47%) of all Great Lakes drownings happen in Lake Michigan and half of all Lake Michigan drownings happen in the south end of the Lake (Chicago, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan).

Please help now to help us stop this “Neglected public health issue” (The WHO) by donating to the “Anything is Everything for Water Safety” fundraising page at: https://www.gofundme.com/anything-everything-4-water-safety
