Allie's Children's Hospital Project

My name is Allie Short. I am a homeschooled high school sophomore. I am an active volunteer and fundraiser for the Short Folks For Hope Foundation, a 501(c)(3) cancer support organization founded by my family in 2012 (http://www.shortfolks.org). We are active fundraisers and participants of the annual Dempsey Challenge event, which supports The Dempsey Center (The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing) in Lewiston, Maine (http://www.dempseycenter.org). I started my own charity craft business in 2012, Yippie Yarn Creations (http://www.yippie-yarn.com). Since 2013 I've helped operate my family's frozen treat pushcart during the warm weather months, Cool Treats For Charity. In 2013 I was awarded The Dempsey Challenge Positive Tracks Top Youth Fundraiser award, raising $5,002.58. These funds help The Dempsey Center provide their support services free of charge to cancer patients and their families.
I am very excited to announce that I am launching a new charity project called "The Children's Hospital Project." I am creating and personifying a full fursuit character named “Lagoona.” She will be a brightly-colored, friendly angel dragon who is sweet, silly (and a little mischievous), and she will bring smiles and happiness to the children she visits in the hospitals, The Dempsey Center, and other hope-fostering charity events.
In August 2016 I completed the art rendering of my character and began the modeling process for the suit. I commissioned a professional fursuit designer from Maine, Craig Ames of CCS Mascots, and we are in the process of creating the full fursuit persona "Lagoona"! The cost of creating the fursuit and launching this project is $3,000. Your donation will help me bring my character “Lagoona” to life and help bring smiles to people who have lost theirs and need a little help finding them, and that means the world to me.
