Hey there!
My name is Alexander Torrent. I am a 31 years old Swede who spend my days with playing music and trying to spread the love in our world.
I play 11 instruments and I sing and produce music. I also work as a consultant within a big branch of sales from time to time. But my music is my quest in life.
I was born in Cali, Colombia March 1985 and I was adopted to Sweden by my mother (swedish) and father (Spanish).
I have lived a great life with everyone around me and especially my adoptive parrents has really done their best through thick and thin to prepare me for life with love and support. For that I am forever greatful.
But besides from that I've always felt that something's been missing in life existencially. The fact that i've never felt home anywhere culturistically (and mentally for that matter) in the world. Neither the places i've been living in nor the places i've visitied, or the fact that Im not able to learn basic math or the fact that when you put an instrument in my hands I am able to play it good within 6 months wihtout anyone showing me how. Never been able to put my finger on it. But these last couple of years my head has been wondering with the steady thaught that it is my time now. To find out about the place were I come from (was born). To meet and be amongst"my peers" (other people not only from my country Colombia, but specifically from my town Cali) in the "real nature".
I've decided to start the journey to find my background and to map out my story. Maybe to get some asnweres surrounding myself cause thats what I feel I am missing to be able to move forward in life, with myself as a boyfriend, husband father (all that future stuff).
As stated this trip is ment to be the start of my journey to find my inner self. Something I have to do in order to be able to ask my many questiones thats been poppin up lately (several years).
Goals might be for exemple; to find siblings and or half siblings, to visit and help anyway I can at the orphanage I was left at myself some 29 years ago. Get to know the society that I've been hearing so much about.
I know a lot of people that has been travelling to Colombia and they have all told me the same thing; "Alexander, you have to go there, you would fit in so well there with so much happiness, color and music".
To hear that over and over has only speeded up my inner longing to go.
One thing that always held me back is the fact that as a struggling musician/artist you have to get used to the idea of having no money, especially for a trip/project like this. But recently a friend told me about 'gofundme' and how a girl who wanted to go find her grandmother had recived 20,000 EUR or something for her trip (might be a myth, I dont know). I was so impressed and touched by the pure kindness and heart in complete strangers out there and I thaught someone maybe would help me with fullfilling my story...
Afterall this is the world i'm hoping to create with my sharing love to the world...:).
I want to start a family in a near future, and to do that I want to be the best and strongest ME I can be for future kids and wife. So everytime I start to think of or plan something big I want to do...it always comes back to this...: I dont know my past...! This time Im starting in the correct end of things...>>
I've have a vision of walking arround the streets of Cali sometime next time Mars through April 2017 (depends entirely on my funds). My 32nd birthday is mars 10. Would be Amazing to be able to spend it at the orphanage just giving back.
First of all: My plan is to go there and to try to find local toymakers and to put in an order for toys... and to give out at the orpahange. Also for the elders It would be AMAZING to hold a private show/consert for them to show more who I am and what I do in my everyday life. My way of doing that has alwaya been with and or though music.
Also I have a small dream of doing a little tour when Im there. I have allready raised a littlebit of funding for that a while ago wich basically covers the transport of music equipmen from Colombia (alternatively to buy it there depending of what works best and cheapest), but of course the shortage is still overwhelming for me to come up with within less then a year...!
Im writing a lot a lyrics right now because I have a lot of thoughts surrounding this. I will keep writing these up til my trip, during my trip and after. Also when there, I will compose all I can to have enough material to be able to produce a concept album when I go back home to Barcelona. everything will be filmed turned into a mini documentary of EVERYTHING...! Even me writing this will make it into the project...! It will be raw and real...! Hopefully Ill find what im looking for...if not...then atleast I can say I TRIED MY BEST!
