Hello! Three years ago we adopted a special 5 year old boy from China. The orphanages there are full of precious kids who need a mom and dad to love them and care for them. Many of them have special needs, like Isaac. Being an older boy is also considered a special need. Their hearts are longing for the love of a family but the older they get, the less and less likely it is they will be adopted.

At the time I wrote a blog to keep everyone up to date and introduce them to Isaac. I named it Chocolate Chip Pancake Girl (chocolatechippancakegirl.blogspot.com) because I love having chocolate chip pancakes for family breakfast on lazy Saturday mornings. You can catch up on his adoption there. That little boy is now almost 8 years old and he loves those chocolate chip pancakes, too! It's a special family time.
We are excited to tell you that we are preparing to adopt another special little boy from China. He will be 5 soon, the same age Isaac was when we brought him home. He will have a mom and dad (a Mama and Baba) very soon!
A few weeks ago we watched a Kid's Baking Challenge show and when they announced the large monetary prize, Isaac was so excited. He said, "Mama! I want to do this so I can help bring home my brother!" So this weekend he had a " virtual chocolate chip cookie stand" where he made, sold, and delivered over 350 cookies! He is so very proud of being able to participate in bringing home his new brother and I am so proud of Isaac and his heart.
Right now we are in the midst of gathering the funds we need. Including travel to China, it will cost between $33,000 and $38,000 for this adoption,. We are overwhelmed and humbled by the number of people who have wanted to help with this. Adoption has a beautiful way of bringing families and communities together. We are proud of our community, and honored to be doing life with you all.
Our expectation is to travel this spring. We can't wait to introduce you to our newest family member! I will keep the blog updated, and post pictures there, too.
