We are volunteer leaders and staff from the Obama for America 2012 reelection campaign who have come together to offer our knowledge and skill set to anyone or any organization in Alabama that wants to help elect progressive candidates to local or state office.
In order to do this in the most effective way, we need the access to the state VoteBuilder (VAN) provided by the Alabama Democratic Party. The cost of statewide access is $15,000 per year. That gives us the ability to help anyone in any community, county, legislative district or congressional district to organize, identify voters and turn out the vote in their area or around the state.
We need the funds as soon as possible in order to help the volunteers we currently have get on the phones and start identifying voters. We will be working with anyone who already has access to VoteBuilder to set up their own phone banks in order to identify voters in their counties...while we undergo this fundraising activity for the state.
Your support will mean that we will be able to have a statewide effort on phone banks to identify progressive voters....and then be able to turn them out at election time for any progressive candidates on the ballot.
We will be eternally grateful for any support you may be able to give in this endeavor. At some point we hope that any progressive state political parties will have organizers doing this work but we cannot wait any longer for that to happen.....each day we are not making phone calls is a day the backward politicians in our state are making it worse for everyone who lives in Alabama!!
