URGENT!!! FAMILY DISPLACED, NO HOME

Spende geschützt
MY FAMILY NEEDS URGENT HELP TO KEEP US AND OUR CHILDREN FROM BECOMING HOMELESS WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK!

We have a five year old little girl and a three year old little boy. After tragedy and sickness hit, we have lost our car and our home.

I am a United States Postal Service City Carrier in Independence, MO. In July of 2015, I was almost killed in a dog mauling after a Cane Corso Mastiff escaped its house and attacked me. Since then, I have been recovering from the physical wounds I received (a nick in the artery under my right arm, broken right wrist, sheered skin off of my knees, and a gaping wound), but since that time I have developed PTSD, a panic disorder and depression. We are fighting with the Department of Labor to expand the worker's compensation to include psychiatry, because I have been unable to work for the past few months due to severe episodes of my panic attacks and anxiety.

My wonderful and amazing love has stood by my side through all of this. She suffers from Complex PTSD, severe anxiety and a major depressive disorder, all unrelated to my trauma. She suffers similar symptoms and fears that I do, only to a larger and more extensive degree. She also has an advanced case of Temporomandibular joint syndrome (commonly referred to as TMJ), caused by domestic violence from a relationship. Her TMJ became more severe in April of 2016 when it caused the mandible of her jaw to break loose of its joint and fall forward, leaving her mouth locked open and requiring a manual resetting of the jaw bone. I had to learn from the doctor how to reset the bone so that we could avoid the hospital each time it happened, which is very fortunate for us since this happened to her numerous times over the following months. In September of 2016, she nearly died because of an ectopic pregnancy, where a fertilized egg attached itself to the Fallopian tube where it ruptured and tore the tube away from the ovary, causing her to bleed internally. The doctors rushed her in to emergency surgery and removed over 2 liters of blood from her abdomen and lower extremities, saving her life. She had to leave her job because of these major health concerns, and to recover from her operation.

In between all of this, we have been fighting our landlord for three years to make necessary repairs to our home to make it livable. Of these repairs are leaking drain pipes, a 40 year old water heater that is going out, foundation cracks that flood the basement during moderate to severe rainstorms, black mold growing in the walls and ceiling of the bathroom, just to name a few. The worst of them all, however, is that we went without heat as our furnace was broken from the beginning of the cold season until the city finally forced him to repair at the end of December 2016. We have begged and pleaded with him, paid out of pocket to have things repaired, and finally began withholding rent. This led him to file an eviction against us, which we went to court for just a few days ago and he won, with the judge dismissing all evidence that we brought to bear against the landlord. (95% of eviction cases in the United States are won by landlords, regardless of what defense tenants bring to court.) Only three days before the court date, our car had been repossessed, and the day before court we lost state assistance because of a clerical error on behalf of family services.

So, that is why we are on GoFundMe today. We are seeking help to keep our children off of the street. We have only until tomorrow before the landlord has the eviction order in hand, and our hourglass has run out. The car is gone, and we have no chance of getting it back. We have nowhere to go, and no assets to utilize to help us.

Please help us. Your donation would mean a lot to us in helping towards securing a home for our children

Thank you so very much for your time.

This is a Cane Corso Mastiff, loyal to its owner, but very dangerous to the community if let loose and if the owner is ill-prepared for a dog of this size. They are a breed of dogs descendant of Roman war dogs, which were known to be hunters and vicious attack dogs when needed. Independence residents are answering the pit bull laws by  buying Corsos and training them as security dogs. (Source for material: dogtime.com, Independence Animal Control)
