Send the Manager to Greece Fund

As most of you already know, my wife, Sophia, and I were grocery shopping and speaking to one another, in Greek. As our viral video demonstrated, a lady started harassing us and yelling at us to "Speak F**king English, This is America!" If you haven't already seen the video, you can find it at the end of this post. But frankly, we don't want to make this about us. There's a bigger story here, and its one of bravery.

There were about 10-15 people around us; however NO ONE felt the need to speak up or to intervene. I didn't feel too threatened; however, what if Sophia were there alone? Or even worse, alone with our kids? All too often I feel like incidents oh harassment occur and more people choose to look the other way rather than help.

Because of that, both Sophia and I feel the store manager deserves a reward. A HUGE reward. She went above and beyond and we need to show the world that these kinds of people are amazing citizens! So what's our idea? Let's send her to Greece!!! The very country of origin of the family she defended. We might as well make something good come of all this. And frankly, we'd prefer to put the focus on her actions because we need more people like her around.

We setup this GoFundMe campaign to try and make this happen. PLEASE, step up and make your voices heard with $5 or $10. She's more than deserving and its a great way to make a positive out of all this negativity.

We promise to be 100% transparent by posting EVERY single receipt, and 100% of the proceeds will be turned over to the manager in the form of a trip to Greece. If for some reason there's any money left over or she does not accept the gift, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to a charity or non-profit fighting racism and/or xenophobia in the United States, or even returned if necessary.

Thanks everyone! Much love.

Hi everyone. Have some great news, were finally able to present the gift to the manager. We're currently working with Tours International USA (travel agency) to put together an all-inclusive trip for two to Greece for the Manager and a guest, along with some spending money. As soon as the package is finalized, I will post the specifics. We also plan to record the presentation to the manager to post on social media.

As such, the withdrawal drom GoFundMe will have to be made by me in order to ensure the money is spent on a trip to Greece. A receipt and itinerary will be posted prior to doing so for full transparency. We hope to make the presentation in the next 2 weeks.

Hi everyone. So it looks like the donations are going to settle at around $5200, so we're going to end the campaign. The plan now is to speak with the store's general manager about arranging aeeting between us and the awesome employee! Hopefully we can make that happen next weekend. Stay tuned.

As someone who gives way more then they receive to the homeless community, I know for a fact they aren't stuck. I've seen countless homeless people become successful by helping themselves first (those caoable mentally) People should expect anything from anyone period. With that being said This is more of a reward or someone doing the right thing 9 of 10 people wouldn't. Don't compare the two. And instead of bitching about being homeless, do something about it

This employee went above and beyond her job description. She demonstrated love, kindness and courage. She stood up for a stranger who was being bullied. The world is in need of more people like her. I hope her employer will make an exception and allow her to accept this gift of genuine love and appreciation.

Please make sure you present it to the manager outside of her work place. I know the company she works for will not let her accept it if given to her on the job

Thanasi, PLEASE don't think she speaks for anyone but her ignorant self! I am so sorry this needlessly happened to you and your wife. You have every right to speak your own language in this melting pot we call America. Your gift to the manager is an act that says kindness and selflessness... in any language!

OMG people. WTH is happening... I am not going to apologize for this solipsistic crazy person yelling at you, I cannot carry her burden that is clearly weighing down her soul. As you know, we do NOT have a national language at all in this country so let the word fly!!!! Please, lets all have a little more OPA, and less insanity....
