The Next Step: Saving Our Suns

In recent years, Chattanooga has been innudated with killing and violence at the hands of African American young men. Our young men lack proper role models who can relate to their living conditions and daily environments. They feel no one understands.
This Mother and Sun [sic] Event is designed to bring together some of Chattanooga's successful men, and men who desire to set up organizations that mentor young men from either their own life experiences or from the heart of what they know our young men need in their lives in order to become successful. The date is July 30, 2016. Sponsors, supporters, and volunteers are being sought. Proceeds are being raised to secure a location, a keynote speaker and food for the event. Several notable successful men have been identified and will be asked to join this movement to change the face of success in the eyes of our young men so they know that their individual levels of success are acheivable.
This event is designed to be completely community sponsored and 100% of the funds raised will go into the event. The intention is to bring a powerful celebrity speaker to address the young men; therefore, most of the actual budgeted dollars are for that purpose. All other expenses for the event itself can be obtained for approximately $10,000. We are asking the entire community, as well as their out-of-town families and friends to open their doors, hearts, and money belts to support this event by giving generously as its effect ripples through all our communities.
The objective is to connect the attendees with mentors and resources to assist them with living their best lives by showing them living examples of young men who walked in the paths they are in today.

Attire: Business Casual
Type Program: Mentoring for up to 30 Young Men and their Single Mothers
Volunteers will be used to host the event, donations are needed to purchase food, door prizes, secure location. Advertisement will be given in exchange for monetary and large donations. The goal is to make impact on up to 30 young men and their mothers.
