With the help of our friends at the Prairie Dog Coalition, Northern Colorado Prairie Dog Advocates is headed back to Cathy Fromme Prairie in Fort Collins to relocate prairie dogs from the Old Town North neighborhoods, where construction and imminent development have left the resident prairie dogs with nowhere to go.

Please donate whatever you can. No gift is too small, and every gift will make a difference for these prairie dogs. We need to pay for relocators, equipment rental and supplies to make the move safe and successful for the OTN prairie dogs. We all have to pull together to make this relocation happen!

To count toward our campaign, all donations must come initially through us. For a sense of our costs, and to help guide your donation, please consider the following:

*$25 - $35: One bag of grain, for trapping or to sustain relocated prairie dogs. We'll need several bags as we move into the post-relocation phase, when we monitor the colonies' new homes throughout the winter.
*$30: Veggies for relocated prairie dogs for one - two days.
*$40: Relocation permit from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
*$70: Arbors and hole saws to make the new front doors in the nest chambers (where the prairie dogs will shelter while they make their new burrows).
*$210:
Three 20-foot lengths of drainage pipe to make the nest chambers.
*$2,100:
Commercial insecticide dusting of take site, required by the City of Fort Collins and CPW.

Home for the Holidays! You can move these prairie dogs to safe & forever prairie homes - and check off your gift list! We'll bet that you will never find a more meaningful or interesting gift than supporting a prairie dog relocation. For a donation of $50, we'll send a tribute card, with your sentiments, to the recipient of your choice.

How to order your gift donation tribute card: Donate through this page, then email us at info@nocopda.org with recipient name and address and your wishes. Please note: The deadline to order your tribute card is Dec. 14, 2018.

Prairie dogs are a keystone species. When you help them, you help all the species who depend on them. Everywhere you turn in Colorado, prairie is being transformed into housing, storage units, shopping malls, and bike trails, and prairie dogs are vanishing as a result. This relocation will help almost 200 animals start new lives on protected public land.

By supporting  the relocation of the OTN colonies, you say that prairie dogs matter and make more people aware of relocation as a humane solution, which could help save other colonies in the future.

You can spread the word! Share this campaign on your Facebook page and with friends, family and anyone who can help us get the OTN prairie dogs back to the prairie.

Your contribution is a donation to the Prairie Dog Coalition of The Humane Society of the United States and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Thank you!

Good morning ~ We have to raise about $13,000 to pay for the OTN relocation. We can't add checks to the online total, and we've received a few of those.

Each of you is responsible for giving the OTN prairie dogs a chance at life on the prairie, where they belong. After just one day out of their acclimation caps, they're digging new burrows, which is what you see in these images.

Please help us reach more people by sharing our campaign through Facebook, by email or with a giving station at your holiday parties (a laptop open to the campaign page). Relocations always come together as a team effort - in our case, a coterie effort - and we need more people to know about this project. We know that many people around the country want to help prairie dogs, and supporting this relocation, and by extension the idea of relocation generally, is a good way to do so.

When you share the campaign, you can point out these fun & effective ways to help the OTN prairie dogs:

* Personal Fundraisers: Suggesting that friends and family donate their birthdays or holidays to raise funds for the project. When asked what they'd like for Christmas this year, for instance, they can share a link to this campaign. Does anyone really need another pair of socks?

* Employer matches: Many employers match employee donations. Do theirs? Does yours? Our relocation partner, the Prairie Dog Coalition, is a program of The Humane Society of the United States, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Employer checks should be addressed to the Prairie Dog Coalition and mailed c/o Northern Colorado Prairie Dog Advocates, 3732 Mead St., Fort Collins, CO 80526. We are tracking all donations then delivering them to the PDC.

PLEASE NOTE: We need to know about the forthcoming match, to be sure the funds are credited to our relocation, so be sure to tell us at info@nocopda.org if we can expect an employer match.

* Home for the Holidays donation tribute cards: Make supporting the relocation the gift to give this holiday season! For a donation of $50, we'll personalize and mail a special card. Please see the main page for all detail.

We need to grow our support coterie, to move these dogs to safety before winter really sets in - and we need your help to do it. ~ Gratefully, Team NoCo PDA
