Hi!  I am a Special Education teacher in a middle school in San Diego, California, and I love to travel.  On a recent trip to Africa with my mom and some friends, we had the privilege of visiting the Rose of Charity Orphanage in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.   Click here to see them in action.  We met with Sima, an angel who is taking in many homeless children, most of them victims of the AIDS epidemic there, and giving them food, shelter, and a family.  After spending the day with Sima and the children there, my mom and I decided to come back to the US and help out as much as we can. My mom is a Special Education teacher too, and we have a soft spot in our heart for children, especially ones who are at a disadvantage.  So, once we arrived back home, we raised money to put in a floor in their new home they are building on the outskirts of Victoria Falls and we started this campaign to help them finish their new house.  The Beat Aids Project Zimbabwe  donated funds for the orphanage to put the ceiling in their new home.  Thanks BABZ!!  Now they need appliances and furniture, plus there is the never ending food bill to feed all those children!

My mom and I sponsor three Rose of Charity girls to send them to school, and raise funds to help with the daily expenses of feeding, clothing and caring for 70 children.  They  recently took in a new orphan, Lamisha, who was found in a trash dumpster at 5 weeks old.  Isn't she cute?!?  This poor baby now has a home and a family.

Any help you could give to assist with the house, daily operating expenses or the new baby is greatly apprciated!  You can also sponsor one (or more) of the children for school.  It costs money in Zimbabwe to attend school, $120 a year for Primary and $240 a year for Secondary.  Please consider either helping with the house, feeding the children, or sending a child to school.  Every little bit helps, and it is very easy to do!  Just click the donate button and I will get your donation to Sima in Africa.

I know you work hard for your money and want to make sure it gets to the children.  All of your generous donations, minus the fees from GoFundMe, will be transfered from GoFundMe to my bank, then directly to the Rose of Charity's account.  Or if you prefer Paypal, go to their website  to donate that way.  You can also contact Sima at the Rose of Charity directly through their website for more information on how to support these beautiful children.

Thanks!
Lisa

Happy Fall, Y'all! As the Northern Hemisphere is cooling down with winter on its way, the Southern Hemisphere is heading into summer and heating up. Can you tell I'm currently teaching my students all about seasons and the Earth's tilt on its axis? I love Earth Science! I also love these precious kids at the Rose of Charity Orphanage! Just peeking above the horizon are the holidays and we can really use your support to help make their holidays bright. We are also trying to raise funds to drill a borehole that will supply much needed water to their house and garden. Drilling the well will cost $9000 so any and all help is greatly appreciated! Please consider helping the Rose of Charity Orphanage meet their needs this year. Donations can be made through here, or if you prefer, through World Ventures Foundation at https://impact.wvfoundation.org/campaign/rose-of-charity-irrigation-system-with-borehole/c148856.
Donations through that link are 100% tax-deductible. Thank you, and just for reading this all the way to the end, you get a totally useless but very interesting bit of information: In order to make one complete rotation in 24 hours, we spin through space at approximately 1,000 miles per hour (1,600 kilometers per hour).

Less than a week left until Christmas, but there is still time to make a difference in the lives of these children who have a family thanks to a caring woman who started an orphanage to fulfill a need in her community. A great big thanks to our recent donors. You are helping to make the season bright for them. If anyone would like to contribute to their Christmas, please donate through here. They are also still trying to fund a borehole for a well to supply water to the orphanage instead of having to buy it and have it trucked in. If you are interested in supporting that, go to https://impact.wvfoundation.org/campaign/rose-of-charity-irrigation-system-with-borehole/c148856. Thank you for your continued support. It really does mean a lot to them to have our support. Without it, Sima wouldn't be able to change their lives and give them hope for a future.

Happy December! I can't believe the holidays are here. It seems like I was just visiting the Rose of Charity a couple weeks ago. Time sure does fly by.

With the holidays almost here, we are starting to think about what to give our loved ones. A new shirt? A silly toy? Another book to add to the growing pile of ones not read yet? How about instead make a gift to the Rose of Charity? They have a new project they are looking to fund. Buying water one of their biggest expenses as they don't have a well at the new house they are now living in. Water is trucked to their home, which is quite expensive. Putting a borehole in for a well will help them expand their garden to grow produce they can sell to local restaurants, generating income. Helping them put in a well is a gift that will keep on giving. Oh, and as an added bonus, you can now deduct that donation as the World Ventures Foundation has created a web site that will direct funds through them. As they are a non-profit with 501(c)3 status, your donation through their website is completely tax-deductible. Go to https://impact.wvfoundation.org/campaign/rose-of-charity-irrigation-system-with-borehole/c148856.

This holiday season we are all thankful for your support. Your generosity helps the Rose of Charity make the lives of the orphans and vulnerable children of Victoria Falls better.
