Help Ransom Ranch Go Solar!
In the video and the photos below you will see how my life long dream has manifested thus far. It has been a fun and wild ride and now, here I am asking for your support to share that dream. -Marcia Gibbons
After 8 years of powering Ransom Ranch with a hardy (but loud) generator and subsequent gasoline bondage, we are going solar in 2016 with your help! Ransom Ranch has seen an outpouring of love and interest from local to international supporters.
Thus far, I have been able to grow a considerable amount of food - drought tolerant, open pollinated crops - just using the generator to pump water. In order to expand to the newly-cleared and terraced land, actual running water is necessary.
Any additional funds raised would be committed to rainwater collection systems on the ranch.
Everybody has something they can contribute to the greater good; this is something that I can do.
Visitors to RR are often surprised at how productive this land can be. I believe that food security in our future depends on people once again knowing how food is grown.
Visitors are often also surprised at how comfortable one can live in very small spaces that they can build themselves.
A sustainable future must include regenerative agriculture and rational building concepts.

Check out the magic of sunlight powering the submersible pump in my well! Filling my 2300 gallon tank, then moving to the pressure tank to provide precious water for people and plants here in this high desert land.
Sooo quiet without the noise of my generator while irrigating. It is now retired, unlike myself!
Gratitude goes out to Alex for helping to create and manage this crowd-funding effort. Happy trails to you, my friend. Already looking forward to your next visit....whenever that will be.
Steady progress on several building projects; peas, kamut, and corn harvested and weighed ; and we are clearing the way for the solar pumping system.
Still need a little more help on that before I can give The Well Man a start date. Please do share this update, donate if you can(I know everybody is asking for money right now!)
First Sunday open house as usual mañana , wheat will be planted in February, first prototypes of the Hybrid Hut are 2/3 done, and ALWAYS......playing with my favorite building material.....right under foot....earth/clay/soil/mud!

Happy New Year to all!
About to start prep for cement slab for the big water tank. That will take 1000$ off the total cost of the solar conversion.
Please share share share , folks!
