Montford Point Detachment #158 MCL

The Montford Point Detachment #158 of the Marine Corps League is a 501(c)4 Non-Profit Veterans Organization and is the official Marine Corps Veteran Organization in the City of Detroit.   The Detachment has the historical significance  of being founded by the Marines of the Montford Point and Marines from the City of Detroit in 1956.   Today, we are honored to have three original Montford Point Marines, some of the first Black Marines, as members.

This year the City of Detroit has been chosen for Marine Week which will be September 6-10, 2017.  

The United States Marine Corp will dedicate a mural at the Montford Point Detachment #158 MCL located at 13721 Joy Rd, Detroit, MI 48228 on September 9th during Marine Week.    The artists will begin painting August 31, 2017.

We are working to prepare our building and grounds for the Mural dedication and Marine visitors from across the nation.

To complete the rest of the preparation work we need to  raise $40,000 in order to get the site ready for Marine Week and future activities of the Detachment.

We need your help in preparing our building  for a memorial mural that seeks to preserve the honor and contributions of United States Marines.  Please take a moment to donate at any level you can. 

This mural is dedicated to the men and women who answered the call to serve the UNITED STATES in war and duty to their country around the world. Some in battle paid the ultimate price and will never be forgotten by those who made it home. Some visibly scarred, some with scars you will never see, but all grateful and proud to be called, a United States Marine.
