Khadijah's African WHT Crossover

Donation protected
Greetings my name is  Khadijah Nixon.   Iam the daughter of Minister Norman and  Deacon Asya  Nixon. I  participate in  the Womanhood Training  (WHT) Rites of Passage at Union Temple Baptist Church  which is located in Southeast, Washington, D.C.

In July of 2015,  myself and 21 other young ladies are planning to travel to Ghana, West Africa for ten (10) days for our final crossover into womanhood in the African Tradition.

The pupose of the Womanhood Training Program is to teach young ladies  about their African culture, heritage, history and their ancestors so that we can become women who contribute in positive ways to our communities and to humanity.

We have attended classes and sessions for the past two years and learned many things like  spiritual development, respect for elders, history, financial literacy, life skills, community development, social skills, peer pressure, college prep,  cooking and doing laundry, personal hygiene, and how to pray and manage anger and much more.

This is my last year in the program and me and my sisters who have been learning how to be great women Our trip to  Ghana  West Africa as an outward symbol of us crossing over into womanhood. The trip is again is scheduled for July 2015 and I need to raise about $5000.

I am an honor roll student at McKinley High School (3.9) gpa, I am also a cheerleader and a member of the track team.  I also dance with the Matari Kucheza Dance Ministry at Union Temple.

This is a dream of a liftime for me and my sisters to be able to go back to our roots and be transitioned into womanhood by our elders in our home country.

Any donation you can make would be helpful and greatly appreciated. I thank God for this opportunity.
