Fighting for Democracy in Philly!

Aloha!

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is John Miller and I was elected as an At-Large National Delegate to represent the State of Hawai’i and cast my vote for Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.  I am humbled and so honored to have been elected to this position and I can attest that I will not only cast my vote for Bernie Sanders, but I will fight and lobby for the very initiatives and platform that Bernie Sanders and his supporters have fought for and stood behind this entire election and movement.  Not only will I be officially representing the State of Hawai’i which resoundingly voted for Bernie with 70% of the vote, but also unofficially my birth State of Minnesota which also supported Bernie Sanders by over 62% of Minnesotans ;)

Living and representing Hawai’i at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia which is 5,000 miles away is not only exciting, but also a very expensive endeavor.  Democracy should not have to be a system only for those with excess disposable income to participate in at any level.  Unfortunately, just like politicians need money to run for public office, I am in need of monetary support from my fellow friends, family, and all those that believe in democracy to help me go to Philadelphia.

The cost of this endeavor is expected for Hawai’i delegates to exceed $5,000+ with airfare, accommodations in pre-selected hotels, and food expenses all of which are considered to be priced considerably higher during the time around the convention.
I thank you for any donation that you can make and please remember that even small donations of $10 or $20 (or $27 for you fellow burners) are what have gotten this grassroots progressive platform so far!  Every little bit helps and every little bit I am very appreciative of!  Mahalo nui loa for your donation and I can’t wait to represent my fellow American’s in Philadelphia, the very birthplace of American Democracy and the U.S. Constitution!

 Any funds raised which exceed my expenses on this trip will be donated to student and other young delegates without access to monetary resources required to attend the DNC Convention.  By investing in our future generations, especially in the political process, ensures we will have a passionate and rich political future.  Something I think we have been lacking for quite some time!
