I am Jamie Perry’s sister,  Claudia & I am currently doing all I can, every single minute, from across the country,  ... to help her to get her life back. On the morning of October 10th, my sister Jamie called me with some devestating news. At approximately 11:30pm  the night before (Sunday, October 9th), she, along with her entire neighborhood, was ordered to evacuate IMMEDIATELY! No time to grab much of anything, for a fire from Nun's Canyon was fast approaching.  As far as I know all she had time to grab was her phone, her two cats in their carriers and one of her cars. Her home is now one of over 200 homes in her area of Glen Ellen,  that was quickly destroyed by fire along with everything in it and around it. As of that night the fire was still not contained and many parts of Glen Ellen and Santa Rosa were destroyed. The beautiful countryside & vineyards that she used to see everywhere are now on fire or smouldering & completely unrecognizable.

Thankfully, she and her neighbors all  got away safely, however, this place was not only her home, it was her livelihood. Her entire business, her works of art, her originals and prints, frames, photographs and many many things that can never be replaced have now vanished. However, My sister is a strong individual. She has been through so much in her past and has learned to deal with whatever comes her way and how to survive. She has lived there for more than 30 years and it was basically all she had, yet now there is nothing left. She was recently widowed & continued to live by her craft not knowing what her future would hold, and altho those fires were out there, it was totally  unexpected.  Jamie has always been fun & loving and it always shows in her artwork and no matter what problems came her way, she found ways to overcome them through her art & she found comfort thru her extreme love for her cats, (or anyone's cats!), music, cooking and most importantly her family & friends. She has never asked for anything from anyone and always has put other's needs before her own...I cannot stop thinking about her & what will be next and I have had Tom Petty's song, "I Won't Back Down" in my head all day... (one of our favorite musicians). I know that is my sister's spirit, but I feel that this time she could use all the help she can get & I'm going to do whatever I can to keep her spirits up. I have seen this before with my best friend & it will be,  I want to say, "a difficult adventure"... ? And I'm praying that something good can & will come out of this, eventually... Because with Jamie, she is not one to back down.

And so because we all could use some joy in our lives, if you would like to help in any way, I am providing it for her here.  Any funds she could have available to her as soon as possible would be so wonderful, so that she may use it for those small essentials we take for granted everyday, for meals, for gas, for clothing, medication, etc. to find a place to live along with her two cats, to replace anything she may immediately need or to use this fund for...whatever she chooses to have a life again. She loves life and deserves to be happy. I am asking if you would like, please help in making this happen... I would so appreciate any help that anyone can offer... We love her so much... <3  As Tom Petty would sing... "Well, I Won't Back Down". If anyone would like to contact me on her behalf, feel free to do so by emailing me here & I will do my best to carry out your ideas or thoughts... I will keep updates here once we know what is happening so stay tuned and Thanks so much in advance...

Help spread the word by copying the link and sharing it on your page... The more that hear about her, the more can help... <3

Hello to everyone and wishing you all much good health & happiness for 2018. Because of all you, we can express our sincere appreciation in assisting Jamie to get a great head start in whatever future endeavors she may undertake. We’ve made a nice jump over the half-way mark and have just a little ways to go to meet our goals. So that you all are aware, the once beautiful valley where Jamie had resided is still in complete ruins and there was nothing salvagable for her to keep nor was there anything left for her to go back to.

In the duration of her 30 years plus that she had lived in the Glen Ellen area, property values have skyrocketed, whether a dwelling is on it or not. It has become totally out of Jamie’s league to live there now, whether she own or rent, which she did the latter. There is nothing to be found even in the surrounding vicinity that hasn’t tripled or quadrupled the total of what she was paying. As a result (if you’ve not heard by now) Jamie is planting new roots and moving in with a friend in Coquille, OR for the time being, still uncertain as to what life’s new turns lie ahead. She made the move a couple of days before Christmas and is still gaining her bearings along with her two cats, Whoopi & Suzy Q. It is an entirely different lifestyle than what she was accustomed, altho very beautiful... but still a major adjustment. She still will be acknowledging everyone individually to thank you all for thinking of her once the “dust settles”.

I will update you via Jamie until she can take over on her own and be glad to answer any questions you may have, get in touch with her directly for you or you may contact me directly by email or Facebook to obtain her personal address so you can write to her yourself. As they say, “No news is Good News”, and with Jamie’s strength and all your prayers & support, She is definitely landing on her feet again with whatever new adventure she plans to undertake. She is a fighter & not once will she back down...

I have come to find that she is so fortunate to have so many fantastic and wonderful friends and connections out there...It is awesome to know how much my sister is loved... xo

Purrs from Jamie, myself and all our kitties... & again,

Ps: Please don’t forget to go to & utilize the link below as well as repost, share & email it to others so that we can help Jamie “Ring In the New Year” with less of a struggle...

I so apologize that it has been some time... things take a while to settle, but I finally have this latest update sent directly from my Sister, Jamie... the best way to hear it, straight from the heart...

To All My Friends and Collectors,
I know it's been a long time since I last wrote to you. So much has happened since then, and once again, it brings up how things can change in the blink of an eye...

Very late on Oct. 8th -11:50 PM, to be exact- my two cats and I were awakened by loud pounding on my back door. I put on my robe and found my neighbor pointing to a house on the other side of the vineyard that separated the two properties. The house was being consumed by flames. We needed to evacuate our respective houses as quickly as possible. I threw on clothes, gently shoved my confused cats into their carriers, backed my Sienna out of the garage and staged it by the front door. I loaded the cats, my purse, and a quilt. I turned around to get my "go-bag" but found myself facing a fireman who strongly suggested that I leave immediately. The bag that held a change of clothes, medications, laptop, iPad, and cat food was left behind. I was grateful to be able to use the red glow of tail-lights as guides to lead me through the thick smoke and on to Dunbar Road. It was now the morning of Oct. 9th, 10 minutes after midnight.

We spent the night in a parking lot with hundreds of other folks whose homes were threatened by the firestorm ravaging our part Sonoma County, CA. Later that morning I learned that the house in which Whoopi, Suzy-Q, and I had been living for 30 years had burned to the ground. Everything had been reduced to ashes: my artwork, personal possessions, J. S. Perry Studio, and all the cat toys.

It is now a month later. Friends that we consider family opened their home and their hearts to us, and are helping the three of us get through each day. Whoopi and Suzy no longer spend most of their time behind the couch, and I have learned the simple pleasure of buying a new raincoat! I purchased a few basic art supplies to heal my soul and sooth my fingers, itching to create something new and different. It feels good to be pushed forward, even though the way it happened was so painful.

Most of you know that I have four sisters. One of them (Claudia-with-the-Heart-of-Gold), started a Go Fund Me page. I am overwhelmed by the love and support we've received from my family, friends, and collectors! I thank all of you who have contributed, especially to Claudia who made you all aware of my plight.

Because all of my stock and most of my working files were destroyed in the fire, I will be setting up a new website that will function as a gallery to exhibit the drawings I created during the last 35 years. I am curious to see how my art will develop from this point on, and invite you to be part of my journey as I go forward.

If any of you have purchased or acquired an original colored pencil drawing from me, I would appreciate copies of the receipts I wrote for you. The insurance companies depend on these receipts to help me substantiate the value of my personal collection (of my own original colored pencil drawings) even though many editions of these images have been sold out for years...

No one ever knows what the future may bring.  I have some plans in the works...

"Well some say life will beat you down
Break your heart, steal your crown.
So I'm starting out from God knows where.
I guess I'll know when I get there.

I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings..."
                                                                  ~ Tom Petty

But I have a Sienna that rolls, and I'll keep you posted when I get there!

*“Purrs” always means peace, love, and contentment to me, the ultimate state of well-being I strive for!  A purring cat is (usually) a happy cat!
