Raise money to help the homeless hero
Ron, a homeless man who was roaming the streets of Salt Lake City today, witnessed the unimaginable. A lady threw out her cute little puppy on a busy freeway entrance and abandoned him. Ron was not going to let this dog get ran over or hurt. Ron's first instinct was to go out of his way to save this poor puppy. Ron believes that every life matters and made it his goal to go out of his way to save this cute little puppy and find him a home. What is extraordinary about this situation is that Ron doesn't have a home himself, and his goal was to find this cute abandoned puppy a home.
I came across my friend (Angel) posting about this situation and instantly knew what I had to do, I had to post it to the local Salt Lake Vegan Page and find someone compassionate enough to help both Ron and this puppy, by giving him a home. Within minutes of posting, a lovely lady by the name of Lisa, and her daughter were on their way to make sure this stray puppy does not go without a home.
When Lisa and her daughter arrived, they thanked the man profusely for being a hero and saving this cute puppy's life. Lisa, Lisa's daughter, and Ron were all in tears over the situation and Lisa knew she had to do what she can to help Ron for saving this dog, so she offered him $50. Ron did not want to accept the money, he said he just wanted to do what is right. After Lisa and her daughter kept insisting, he accepted with much gratitude and was ever so thankful, for the money and that they were able to give this puppy a good home. As you can imagine, it was a ball bath of tears for everyone invlovled. Ron had a hard time giving this puppy away but was so happy for the puppy to have a place to go home to and knew he couldn't adequately care for the dog. Ron and Lisa's story helped remind me that all lives matter, animal or human, homeless, not homeless, are equally important. Ron is a hero who cared for this dog over himself.
After hearing this story I KNEW that I needed to help Ron get off his feet by starting a fundraiser for the hero. Ron needs a happy ending, as well as the puppy. Everyone deserves a second chance at life. We need more Ron's (& Lisa's) in this world. Please help Ron share the love and find a home for himself, we all desreve second chances in life.
Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all your support and donations! I wanted to let everyone know that we are currently attempting to get Ron into a program that will help him with the transition back into caring for himself: they will help him with job opportunities, healthcare, counseling, etc. The idea is to get him to the point he can sustain a place, not just get into one. This takes a little time but but we are actively working on it.
Currently, I am trying to find out how I can get him a place without credit or a steady income (as of yet). He also needs to see a doctor, he has been sleeping on the cement sidewalk for a long time and he has accumulated all sorts of health problems from it. If you have connections and can help with this, please let me know. I believe his health should come first, and then a steady job!!! Thanks!!! :)
Dodo did a story too!! Check it out!!! This is going viral :)
Met with Ron tonight to give him all the money that was donated. I wish i could have got his original reaction because he was seriously freaking out, crying, and kept saying, "Are you sure this is for me!? From who, from who" I told him it was from the community, giving back because they were inspired by him and want to make sure he has a happy ending just like that dog. He looked through the envelope like 10 times because he really couldn't believe it. He said he promises that he will not let us down!! He was like, "This man isn't sleeping on the street tonight!!!" Then the second thing he said he was going to do was to go to get a phone. I have literally never seen anyone so excited and shed a couple tears myself. All of you are soooo amazing. You gave him the will to fight the good fight. :)
