Help the Solis family; Torn apart by ICE

Donation protected
A member of our church family, Jair Solis, was taken from his family by ICE on Monday, February 26th while he was on his way to work in Los Angeles, CA. He is now being held at a detention center in Orange County. Jair was the sole provider for his wife and his 3 children, ages 10, 12, and 15.  As a result of not showing up to work on Monday Jair’s boss terminated his employment and now the family must find a way to cover bills and the cost of living (housing, meals, etc.) Please help us support them by contributing what you can.

Background:

Jair came to Los Angeles from Mexico at the age of 14, and has been working and living in Los Angeles for almost 30 years. The Solis family has been a part of our church for more than 3 years. We've played, laughed, eaten meals, and worshipped alongside them and now we are committed to walking alongside them with prayer and emotional and financial support as they go through this difficult time.

Help Needed:

The most urgent matter now is to provide for the family’s needs as they  fight for Jair’s release. The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights- Los Angeles (CHIRLA)  and Academia Avance , a charter school in NELA, are working together with to us to provide support to the family. CHIRLA is providing the family with much needed legal representation. In the meantime we need to raise money for Jair’s wife and children to help them survive without their husband and father.

We do not know how long Jair will be in the detention center but are hoping to raise a first round of money for the family to support them financially for the next 4 months (through June). It is possible that his detention could last longer than that.

Contribution and Where your Help Is Going:

The family needs $2500 a month to cover the family’s basic needs which include paying rent, food, and their bills. To meet our fundraising goal we need 100 people give $25 per month for the next 4 months. However, any amount you can contribute will help the family through this difficult time.

All funds contributed to this campaign will be used to pay for the family's immediate needs, including the following:

1.) Rent

2.) Utilities and Bills

3.) Food

Church of the Resurrection in Highland Park (Los Angeles) (Rev. Janna Ziegler and Father Jon Ziegler)  will withdraw the money contributed and either 1.) Pay the family’s bills directly or 2.) Deliver the money directly to the family.

Also please consider leaving a note of love and encouragement for the family and for Jair, we are planning to  send letters of encouragement to him while he is in the detention center.  Thank you.
