Life-Size Chess/Shogi Board 20'x20'

Donation protected
Hi, I am Aaron Brethower.  I am a Life Scout and Senior Patrol Leader from North Salem Troop 1.  As my offering to our community, for my Eagle Scout Service Project I have designed and am building a life-size Chess and Shogi (Japanese Chess) board.  The dimensions are about 20 ft by 20 ft square. The location is beside the bamboo patch at the Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem.

The Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden, along with Eagle Scout candidate Aaron Brethower, are asking for your help.  With Aaron's leadership, we are recreating Natalie Hays Hammond’s unique chess board.  It will be located out in the botanical garden, and will be fashioned using granite for the tiles.  For longevity, under Aaron's direction and with the industry of his fellow Boy Scouts, a professional-grade patio foundation will be laid underneath the granite, to provide drainage and prevent frost-heave.  The Hammond Museum will be using Ms. Hammond's original wood chess pieces (as seen with the Knight below).

Aaron is spearheading this huge undertaking and needs your support.  When this Eagle Scout Service Project is complete, he will have earned and will receive the rarely achieved Eagle Scout Rank.

Thank you so much for your contribution and support!
