Hello. We live in a funny little village in France, In our funny little village, is a funny little school. It's a lovely thing. It is, and has been a wonderful servant to our children. Between Pre school, infants, and juniors there are 50 children in total. Every year, the school is threatened with closure. Because obviously, on paper, it makes no economic sense. But.. BUT... the consequences of closure on our village would be grave. When a village this size loses its school, it loses its heart.
And our funny little village has a very big heart. But no money.
As a result of this, the school has become a little sad. The gates are rusting, the playground is dreary. It just seems like everybody has given up on it.
Until now.
Which is where you come in...
We want to restore some pride into our school. We want to brighten it up. We want to replace the dreary grey walls in the playground with a beautiful mural. We want to paint the rusty gate. We want to show that we are gratefu and proud of our school. We might not be able to prevent its closure ultimately, but by god we can raise it's profile and make it as difficult as possible to ignore.
But we need materials. We are many, and we are energized. We have some fantastic local artists prepared to give up their time and efforts to help. We want to create something amazing. I am setting this up in the hope that we can raise money for the paints, plaster and tools we need to make this happen. We want to send a message to the local council that we are PROUD of our school and that we haven't given up, because you know what? This really fucking matters.
