Greetings! GIVE SOMETHING BIKE is back and gearing up to gift deserving foster children with brand new bikes this holiday season!

With over 36,000 kids in foster care in Los Angeles, it’s Tweens and Teenagers who are often forgotten around the holidays and often get no gifts at all, since most toy drives and kind efforts tend to gear towards younger kids. Well, it’s time to change that.

If you recall, last year, with the help of many incredibly kind donors and sponsors, we put brand new bicycles, helmets and locks in the hands of 105 foster children in Los Angeles, making their holidays magical (see my original GoFundMe campaign here ).

Well, the holiday season is right around the corner again and I am continuing my commitment, with your help, to bring smiles to even more foster children this year!

So please help us to raise enough to make this holiday season special for at least 106 foster kids… (Of course, I’d love to find a way to help even more if we can!)

I am so excited to report that with the incredibly kind support of Kent International bikes, for the second year in a row, and Purefix Cycles , we're once again able to get a very cool package for each foster child consisting of a (1) BRAND NEW KENT BIKE (either the Thruster Rage or the 2Cool), (2) a RAZOR HELMET and (3) a KENT BIKE LOCK for an amazingly low donation of just $69 per child – which includes all fees for payment processing, GoFundMe, bike assembly and initial delivery. (We're starting the campaign early since we need enough time to build and deliver the bikes to the kids before the holidays.)

If you feel so inspired, I ask you to please help bring smiles to these often forgotten foster children this holiday season by clicking the button on this page and making a donation of $69 for each bike package you'd like to donate/sponsor (I’ve done the math way at the bottom if you’d like to donate enough to support more than one child).

Together let’s make a massive difference to bring loads of smiles this holiday and show these kids that people in the world send love and support them in the pursuit of the life they deserve.

Thanks so very much for your kind time and support. And I hope you and everyone you love have your happiest holiday season so far.

Jesse

P.S. IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS ACCESS TO A LARGE MOVING OR DELIVERY TRUCK, who may be willing to donate time and help us pick up and deliver the bikes to the kids, PLEASE EMAIL ME at givesomethingbike@gmail.com
because if we can’t find someone to help with delivery this year, we will need to spend money on delivery that we’d rather use to get bikes for more kids. Thanks!

P.P.S.  Following your generous donation, the Department of Children and Family Services will make available Tax Deductible Donation Letters to any of you who asks – so if you’d like them to send you one, please email us at givesomethingbike@gmail.com telling us the name and mailing address they should send the letter to, along with the amount you donated. Thanks so much again!

P.P.P.S. Check back here for updates with counts as to how many bikes we’ve all purchased for these special kids.

Hello again, friends - hope all is amazing. Just wanted to give you one more update before we head into the holiday weekend. We gave away the rest of the bikes at events this week and really made a huge difference to these kids. The thing I most often heard from them is that they were incredibly grateful because the bike will give them a way to get to and from school - a young girl even sent us a thank you note, including her report card so we could see how high her GPA is :) Plus, as a follow up to my last update, we surprised Christian (the young man who donated his gifted bike to his sister last week) and gave him his own special bike (see photo collage below). He was so touched and so thankful that we thought to do that for him. Once again, thank you all for your help and support and please know you are doing an amazing thing. I hope each of you and your loved ones have your most joyful holiday so far and a 2017 packed with fun, magnificent surprises. Stay smiling...

Hello friends - hope all is outstanding! We started giving away bikes this week and I attended a special holiday event in El Monte where 400 foster youth were provided with entertainment, activities, and food - all volunteer/donation based. The event was run by an amazing woman, Axa Cazzaly, regional manager with the Dept. of Children and Family Services, and she made sure everything ran smoothly and the kids had a reason to smile for the holidays. As a small part of this event, thanks to Dominique Robinson and her team (along with, Axa, the real heroes to these kids), we were able to give away bikes to some kids who were hand picked as those who would benefit from them most. It was truly special to bring light to these amazing kids and I am so grateful to you all for your role in making this a reality. You're empowering us to make a profound difference and I thank you so very much!

I could tell you something about each child - the girl who smiled and asked me if she could have a hug, the brother and sister who were recently abandoned by their mother when she ran off with a man and left them and their 2 younger siblings behind, the young man who broke down in tears in disbelief that this gift was actually real… But the most impactful moment to me came when a young man who truly wanted a bike, instead opted to take his gifted bike and give it to his sister (he's featured most prominently in the collage here). A truly selfless act and an incredibly special kid. Remember when there are moments to feel as though the world is a harsh place at times, there are moments of pure love happening everywhere, every day, most of which we never see. We are making sure he gets his own bike as well as he definitely deserves one.

Stay smiling, friends. More updates coming soon.

I am so excited and grateful to report that we just hit our initial goal for this year! Thank you all so much for your kind support and for helping me make a difference in the lives of these children. A special acknowledgment to Austin and Purefix Cycles who agreed to donate 10 of their bikes to the campaign, as well as all of the other support they've offered. So with that, we're gifting 116 kids so far - 11 more than last year. Truly amazing. With your continued help, we can grow each year to eventually be able to gift every one of the thousands of deserving children in the foster system.

Hope you all have an outstanding day. Photos of the first batch of bikes will come shortly, as well as other periodic updates. Stay tuned...

Hi there, friends. I hope this week of exploring things we all have to be thankful for is off to a wonderful start for you. Well, I remain humbled and grateful that thanks to so many incredibly kind donors, we are within just 20 more bikes to hit our initial goal this year! Please continue to help spread the word so we can gift as many children as possible. Also, I am so excited to report that we received the November grant of $1,000 from the Awesome Foundation's Los Angeles chapter! All very exciting. Stay tuned for more updates on this year's plans for how the bikes will be distributed to the children. Have an outstanding day!
