Right now is an amazing time to support The Congregational Kitchen, a ministry of the First Congregational Church.
The ministry is trying to purchase a facility to solidify and expand its capacity. As a result, the Kitchen has begun a capital campaign to secure the necessary funds to purchase, renovate and equip the facility it has operated from for 9 years. That’s why NOW is a perfect opportunity to support this quiet but mighty organization with a financial gift or a gift of your time and expertise.
Devoted to helping relieve hunger and increase food security in Allegan County and surrounding counties, on a weekly basis, volunteers at the Kitchen prepare and distribute emergency weekend meals to 350 Allegan Public School students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. Every Thursday evening the Congregational Kitchen's volunteers prepare and serve over 1,000 meals for anyone who joins them. The meals are provided at no cost. Equally as important as feeding our children and our community's hunger, the Congregational Kitchen distributes food, fresh meat and vegetables included, to 28 pantries in four counties.
The immense blessings witnessed are many, and the effect in peoples lives starts with a warm healthy meal. But it extends far beyond food, to smiles and friendship, to hope and better learning for children who don't come to school hungry on Monday...The impact is profound.
...With that we ask for your help. We have raised over $150K in our total goal of $350K, thanks to the generosity of many supporters!
