Team Epic Everyday

Hi! LentineElizabeth (Bud) here - thank you for visiting our funding site, and learning more about our campaign!

We pride ourselves on being  "live in the now" sorts of women, but this winter, we're going to be living in the future, with sights set on a challenge with epic proportions, and the possibility of an epic impact on women's cycling.

The Absa Cape Epic  is one of the most grueling mountain bike stage races in the world. For 8 days, our team will race through some 800km of unspoiled terrain, up 15,000m of accumulated climbing over some of the most magnificent mountain passes in South Africa. We're riding because the invitation to line up at the start of this incredible race is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We're riding to face an ultimate challenge, in a time when we find ourselves hunting for the therapy and power we feel on our bicycles. We're riding because our bicycles are the place where we make the rules, and where our perceptions of what we can conquer are the only limitations on our ability to achieve. This liberation - to go forth bravely, wherever our spirits carry us - is a privilege.

Our experience on bicycles lies on one end of a global women's where bicycles are a vehicle for empowerment. Epic riding expands our horizons, and open doors of possibility and personal success. On the other end of this continuum are women who have yet to experience this sort of boundless recreational empowerment on a bicycle. And yet, bikes still serve as vehicles for connectivity and freedom. Worldwide, bicycles provide women and their communities access to natural resources, community resources, education and micro finance opportunities that are otherwise out of reach. Bicycles help them carve their own paths in life, and help their communities grow and prosper.

In a nutshell, bicycles do life-changing, epic things all over the world, everyday.

Recognizing this, we accepted our race entry with the intention of using the opportunity to share our epic experience on a bicycle with women everywhere. So, we have partnered with World Bicycle Relief/Qhubeka  and Trek Bicycles  to visit several grassroots projects in South Africa that share the power of bicycles with women + their communities; it is our goal to deliver 50 bicycles to projects that work in the backyard of the prestigious Cape Epic, significantly boosting their efforts, and capturing the stories of how bicycles are helping women to be a epic, everyday on film.

We're asking for your help in making this effort a reality. If our project in South Africa is successful, there is promise to recreate it here in communities around the United States, in South America, and worldwide in communities where epic bicycle adventures and the women who attempt them can use their experience to help start the cycle of empowerment for women on bikes.

If bicycles are a part of your life, if you've been inspired by a bicycle, or inspired by others on bicycles, I ask that you please consider visiting and donating to our cause through our GoFundMe site. Any amount of support helps, and just $160 will buy a complete bicycle:
