Guatemala Waldorf School Service Trip

Donation protected
This July, 16  students and 3 adults from our N.C. Waldorf community will embark on a 10-day journey to Guatemala to connect with the local Waldorf community, immersing in the culture, language, and beautiful scenery of the highlands around Lake Atitlan.

This unique service trip will balance physical beautification projects for the Waldorf school Escuela Caracol (http://escuelacaracol.org) with an educational experience for the Mayan children provided by our students (who, in turn, learn from the experience as well). Our students will spend a week actively providing special main lesson workshops -- including circus, movement and art -- and then will provide individualized assistance during the subject lesson, working side-by-side with the local teachers.

The staff at La Escuela Caracol eagerly awaits this meaningful experience for their children's last week of the school year and assures us that this will create a lasting impression on their students, just as we are assured this experience will create a life-lasting impression on our students.

The families of our students are covering their own travel and lodging expenses. Please consider donating to our project to help cover the cost of our work materials, sponsor the continued Waldorf education of a Mayan child that our students will connect with, and provide additional special excursions for our hardworking teens.
