In a nutshell, Atlanta is also home to a huge and rising Homeless population. At last count there were over 7,000 people living in the streets.
Atlanta is also home to one of the largest Pop Culture conventions in the US. Every year in September 50,000 to 80,000 people cram into Downtown Atlanta for a few days to attend DragonCon.
DragonEggs hopes to engage Con Goers in a random act of kindness by allowing people to hand out Dragon Eggs to the homeless and hungry that occupy the Downtown area.
Last year we were able to hand out around 100 bags and a few people told me that handing them out was their FAVORITE part of DragonCon last year. We want to improve and grow this year!!
What is a Dragon Egg?
It's a bag filled with essential items. Shampoo, soap, water, snacks, towel, tooth brush, tooth paste, etc.
You can help in several ways!!!!
1: I'm happy to accept your donated items as long as you can get them to me by August 31st.
2: If you would like to help hand out bags please let me know in the comments here or email me at [email redacted].
3: If you would like to make a financial contribution this will go to purchasing more tote bags, getting more items for the bags like tshirts, phone card, and/or reusable water bottles. Financial donations will also ensure that EVERYONE we come across gets a bag. Last year I was able to make a few makeshift bags using the DragonEggs account when we ran out of premade bags.
I'm so excited to organize this project again this year. I trully believe in this and love showing others how easy it can be to help those in need. Thanks in advance for all your help last year and this year!!
