Dragon Eggs

Hey Guys!

It's me, Dreebs! I hope you will read this and help me help those in need this year!

Every year in Atlanta around 50,000 people come from all over to attend Dragon*Con. This convention is a yearly meetup and safe haven for fans, geeks, nerds, cosplayers, gamers, crafters, You Name it! The first time I attended I remember just feeling the biggest sense of "I'm with my people!". Even with 50,000 people the attitude is nice, polite, accepting, and always willing to help out. That is why people come back year after year.

Atlanta is also home to a huge and rising Homeless population. At last count there were over 7,000 people living in the streets.  The last two years I've attended I couldn't help but notice how many people sleeping on sidewalks or asking for water are standing on the sidelines while 50,000 people walk through which is essentially their home, the streets, for 5 days. If you know me well, you know this doesnt sit well with me. I know I can't save the world, but I can make a small dent. And others can and should help!

A while ago, after working at a job mainly dealing with Homeless and Disenfranchised people I realized something. We all feel uncomfortable handing out money to strangers and/or homeless. Well, why not hand them essentials? I call them "Go Bags" some call them "Blessing Bags". I always try to keep a few on me.

These bags are filled with hygeine products, snacks, water bottles, asprin, feminie care products, towels,  etc and a list of resource contacts for homeless and disenfrachised people. The goal this year is to build about 50 bags. Hopefully More! I'm calling them Dragon Eggs. (Thanks Virgil)

The MOST important thing that I want to accomplish here is to give these bags to friends, and con attendees that are willing to help hand them out while we attend Dragon*Con in early September. It's important that we stop ignoring the unfortunate and remember that they are humans just like us. We don't know their story and many times, they are more afraid of us than vice versa. This is were the dialogue MUST start in order for us to help our homeless brothers and sisters.

My Wonderful and Amazing mother, Rochelle, already donated some supplies to get us started. I hope you will help. Your share and/or donation will go directly to this cause. If you would rather donate supplies rather than money please contact me for my address through a private message or email me at [email redacted] or [email redacted]. I will need to recieve any mailed donations by August 31st in order to place them into the bags.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
