Davies' Adoption

Help us bring our daughters home!

We are on the last leg of our long journey trying to adopt, It has been almost 5 years since we started our adoption story, There has been many ups and downs, many times we got our hopes up, many heartbreaks.

We started by trying to adopt one little girl to making room for two sisters. They initially told us it would maybe take a few months but it has taken years. We have patiently waited (and many of you with us),  updating our paperwork year after year, hoping and praying, wondering when this could happen. We are finally arriving at being able to share family with these precious girls who’ve been waiting for their forever home!

We found out this week that if everything goes well, they can be with us in the next 4 months! We also found out that at this stage that we need to pay the remainder of our fees toward all the paperwork. So far we have paid about $26,000 and by the end of this week, we need to have our final payment of $15,000 for our adoption fees.

We feel a bit overwhelmed, but grateful for this opportunity to trust God once more and to see how He makes a way for these little ones to have a family. Yesica Paola and Ana Maria are turning 9 and 10 this year, and we hope they will be able to join us by the time Christmas comes around, and hopefully sooner!

Would you consider joining us on this adoption journey by giving to help bring these two precious girls home? We know these are challenging times for a lot of you, but we are asking that if you are not able to give financially, would you please pray for us and share our story?

We are so grateful to all of you who have stood by us all these years on this journey. Thank you!

Adoption has been something we have thought about for a number of years and for the last year we have been making preparations. Seth, Samuel, and Tirzah can't stop praying for their "new sisters in Colombia".

This is the adoption process in steps for all of you who may be wondering… The Bold is where we are right now in the journey. (Step 9)

1 •Application to ALBB for ensuring you meet the criteria for adopting in the US and in Colombia.

2 •Upon approval submit the contract and first fees to ALBB

3 •Begin home study and dossier for Colombia at the same time.

4 •Complete home study with all required agency and State approvals then submit I-800A to USCIS

5 •Complete all items in the dossier, submit for pre-approval to ALBB while USCIS approval is pending.

6 •Receive USCIS approval and submit fully approved and final dossier to ALBB.

7 •Dossier sent to Colombia for translation and registration at ICBF, the central adoption authority of Colombia.

8 •ICBF approves the family to move forward to be placed on a waitlist for a referral. Once approved moving forward with an official referral if the child(ren) previously identified. Otherwise, the family goes on the waiting list for referral.

9 •Child referral received! Submit acceptance letter to ALBB/ICBF.  (THIS IS WHERE WE ARE NOW)

(The extra money is because we had to update our psychology evaluations since it was about to expire and also the money for the fees for the 2nd child)

10 •Submit I-800 and I-864W to USCIS after acceptance of referral

11 •Once I800 is approved, file DS-260 with National Visa Center (NVC)

12 •Encuentro date requested. Travel to Colombia 2-3 weeks later.

13 •Travel to Colombia for four weeks (minimum) to adopt a child.

14 •Receive immigrant visa. Travel home with your newly adopted child. Begin the post-adoption process.
