Camp Kadimah Mini Court

Hackshivu hackshivu, attention in our camp:

My name is Andrew Spinner.  I am a Camp Kadimah alumni, having attended as a camper from 1994 to 2001, and as a Machar staff from 2004 to 2006.  To say that Camp Kadimah is a very significant part of my life would be a tremendous understatement.  Here's a few reasons why:
- My best friends to this day were from camp
- They became some of my groomsmen at my wedding.  Speaking of which...
- I met my wife at CK!  We got married in September 2014.
- Even though I'm many years removed from a summer at camp, I find myself often debating about the ins and outs of CK life.  What is the best meal at camp?  Turkey dinner...obviously.

Anyway, so I imagine if you're reading this, you either have attended camp, had a child that attended camp, or are thinking of sending your child to camp (you should!).

When the year started, I prioritized how I wanted to spend my time helping specific charitable causes - CK was one that I felt I could help in some way.  After a few conversations with Phil David, CK's Director, he identified a number of capital expenses that camp has on its list. I offered to help fundraise for some of them.

The one I have posted is quite a nice initiative by CK. Essentially, CK had made it a mandate to get the kids outside and more active.  To accomplish this, they have put up more tetherball courts, more ping pong tables, and even installed a Ga Ga pitt.  All the new setups have been a huge hit with the kids!

They also set up two make-shift courts next to Cabins D and 16 to see if they would get used, which they did.

So, in order to keep the kids outside and keep them super active and having even more fun than ever before, CK wants to create a third court and properly pave it with a nice new basketball hoop.  It will be near cabin 25.

The costs are $2000 to grade and pave the area, and another $400 for the hoop.  An additional $200 was added to take into account the Go Fund Me fees.

Any extra funds raised through this campaign will be used towards improving the other two mini-courts.

Please join me in helping out the next generation of campers and staff to ensure they continue to have the best summers of their lives, something we were all so fortunate to experience.

Also, for donations over $25, Camp Kadimah will issue a tax receipt.  They will be sent later in the year.  Please be sure to provide your full mailing address when making your donation.
