Veterinary Care in Punta Cana
After a successful summer providing Veterinary care to several northern BC communities, the Canadian Animal Assistance Team is heading south!
The community of Punta Cana has requested the help of our amazing organization and a team of 21 volunteers (including yours truly) will be departing November 7th, 2017 for a week long project.
Who is the Canadian Animal Assistance Team?

CAAT travels by request to remote communities that have little or no access to veterinary services. Volunteers consisting of Veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technicians and Assistants provide spaying, neutering, vaccinations, parasite control and animal care education to the adults and children of the community. We strive on building lasting relationships with the community members and in the process, we make amazing friends. The feeling of connection, contribution and making a difference is beyond words.
As a volunteer, I'm required to provide my own transportation to the communities we serve. Over the past 6 years I have attended at least 8 CAAT clinics (its easy to lose count) with the focus being Vancouver Island and surrounding islands with the exception of the Yukon, where my passion for CAAT started. This will be my first CAAT clinic outside of the country and my first fundraising event to offset the cost of travel to Punta Cana in November.
Should I raise enough to cover the cost of my flight, the additional money raised will go directly to CAAT to help with the cost of medical supplies and mediations used.
I also hope to put together some goodies (books, pencils and stickers) for the local children who love to spend time with us learning about their pets and watching the clinic in action. My hope is to inspire these young minds and in the process spark the desire to pursue an education in animal health.
