Our Mission:
Our names are Vyvian and Nathan Nguyen and we are fourteen and sixteen year old siblings. Our family recently came back from the Rio Dulce region in Guatemala and we noticed that there was a main basic need missing at the only school there: lighting. These students are studying in the dark and need more brightness in their school. Brighten a student's future today by contributing to this fund to bring light into their classrooms! Your donations will help put solar lighting throughout the Ak' Tenamit School on the Rio Dulce so students can have a proper and more efficient educational experience.
Why:
The Ak' Tenamit School is in Santo Tomas, Guatemala, deep in the Rio Dulce, which is only accessible by boat. Their only source of light in the classrooms is a small peep in the thatched roof where the sun faintly shines through. Even during the morning, the amount of brightness was not sufficient. Imagine what it's like at night! These students don't have enough light to study and deserve a proper learning environment. Putting solar lighting throughout the school will make it a better and safer place for all the students.

How:
With the help of your donations, we will be able to raise money to buy and mount solar lighting throughout the Ak' Tenamit School. Your contributions will be directed towards the purchasing of solar lighting, its shipment to Guatemala, and in addition, buying water filtration systems and varnishing tables, chairs, etc. for the students. Our goal is $5000 and hopefully we will be able to achieve that by mid July in order to do our planned project at the end of July. Any donations help and are deeply appreciated, especially by the students.
