Attorney Fees for Bill Shade

My uncle went missing in Chiquita creek, CA while camping on Father’s Day weekend. He was assigned last minute to work and after visiting the jobsite (Mendota prison); they went up to mammoth pools to spend the day together. Meanwhile he was in the presence of a co-worker and an army ranger whose story claims that they were fishing while my uncles dog fell into the water and after a half a mile or so of running through terrain, he drowned while jumping in and trying to rescue his dog. After fifty-two days of him missing, the autopsy found no water in his lungs with the cause of death of blunt force trauma to the chest with multiple rib fractures. Once the body was found, there were no remaining organs and there was a laceration in his face and back. They identified him through his teeth because there were no fingerprints nor clothing left. When the results came back from the dentist, it was identified as his body but there were molars missing. My mother, hired a private investigator to question the two men who were present on that day along with his 16-year-old daughter who heard his last yell. In the private investigation, Gary (the army ranger) admitted he had a concealed 9mm gun that he shot off three times for a distress call, however, there was an unidentified man who came to the rescue. Chuck his coworker admitted that they were never fishing. These findings were conflicting with Madera County’s incident report.

However, the incident report was a page in a half, stating he drowned and his wallet, trailer, daughter and truck were released to the two men that were with them. These belongings were released the next day after he went missing. Meanwhile his house was ransacked, his banking accounts were drained and his 16-year-old daughter was left without a guardian, as my uncle just had received full custody of his child the year prior. My cousin claims that the day he went missing, she was given a bottle of Jack Daniels to help cope with the tragic accident. These coping mechanisms were given to her by the two men, in which they had left her to self-cope while they went back down to the creek. The Sherriff department claims they called Fresno swift water rescue but when I called to confirm, they only had records of a phone call but no dispatch. After seeing if there were 911 records, 911 states there are no records in their system.

After sharing these findings with Madera, my mother was hoping for a negotiation, possibly reopening the case or answers to why the sheriff department did not find these same results. However, there was no peace after leaving Madera in which has left the family divided and destroyed.

It is obvious that it was an unfair investigation and the case lacked protocol to missing persons and child custody. Also, the dog was never found! After going to the district attorney’s office, they claim they have no record of a man named William Shade dying in their county. The autopsy photos could determine if the injuries were before he hit the water but we are unable to retrieve them due to the Sherriff department.

As you can see, there is a huge conflict and im hoping to learn and find out resources that could help my family find closure, my mother in fact has lost her brother and the findings kill her everyday with uncertainty of how he died. Help me raise the funds to make her legal representative!

100 percent of funds will go to attorney fees. If you know any probono attorneys that would be willing to take this case please contact me at by email.
