In November 2015, I had the privilege of speaking at the Joomla! World Conference in Bangalore (Bengaluru), India.

While I was there, I was fortunate to visit the Orphanage/Children's Home run by Pastor Jeevan Sam and his wife Jisha.

In all, they care for about 20 children at any given time in their home. While 2 of the children are theirs biologically, they treat all of the children as their own.

Most of the children are placed in the home by their mother after their father had passed away. With little or no income, the mothers feel it is the only way for them to get proper care and education.

When I spoke with Pastor Jeevan last November, I asked him questions about the financial aspect of the work he does. He stated that the cost to take care of the children is about $50/month/child.

This cost mainly covers food, school, and medical expenses. I've been told by several Indian friends that the public (free) schools are not very good. I learned that the younger children have more medical expenses, but older children have more school expenses.

Approximate cost for Pastor Jeevan and his wife Jisha to care for 20 kids is $12,000 USD each year.

In January 2017, I will be returning to Bangalore with my wife and kids. We will present the funds collected at that time.
