"A True Christmas Project" 2015

Donation protected
Can you imagine being a kid and not receiving a single present from Santa? In Brazil, millions of children that live in the favelas "shanty towns" do not receive a single present on Christmas day.

I would like to invite you to join our annual fundraiser to ensure that Brazilian children receive a present on Christmas day in 2015.  Over the past few years, the incredible support received from my friends online has helped to propel my family's charity project to new heights.  In 2014, we set a record in donations ($3,715) and participation (125).  As a result, we were able to purchase a total of 1,122 high-quality presents in addition to the hundreds of plastic soccer balls and hula-hoops that we purchase every year.

In 2015, our goal is to increase donations and participation from 2014 by 10% ($4,087 in donations from 138 people).  For those who have actively participated in the past, I kindly ask to you help us by sharing this initiative with your networks.  Together, I believe that we can make 2015 the best Christmas that the Brazilian children have ever seen!

Below is our numbers from the past 3 years (*online-only):

2012:  $1,475 raised by 45 people

2013: $2,876 raised by 118 people

2014: $3,715 raised by 125 people

2015 Goal:  $4,087 raised by 138 people

Your contribution, any amount, will make a tremendous difference. A $2 donation, for instance, is enough to buy presents for 3 children!  I highly encourage you to check out our facebook page, blog, videos and pictures from previous years. Additionally, please check out our interview with NBC Boston in 2012.

Special Note: All funds raised here will be used to buy presents directly from the wholesale supplier in Brazil by me on December 17, 2015.  Receipts from previous years can be provided upon request.  Although I am working on obtaining a 501 (c) (3) status from the IRS due to outstanding growth in recent years, this charity is currently not tax-deductible. My idea is that this personal fund will make it easier for my friends to donate to this project organized by my family. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will keep everyone updated with pictures and videos from the day of the event!

About "A True Christmas" Project

A True Christmas Project's mission is to bring a smile to the needy children of the Brazilian shanty towns on Christmas day. We aim to reach as many children as possible every year by giving them simple but meaningful gifts on Christmas day. When a gift is not possible, Santa Claus is around to make the children laugh and give them hope for a better tomorrow. Everything started 25 years ago when Heleno Doria wanted to give the children the opportunity to take pictures with Santa Claus. Santa Claus started this project by simply walking around the shanty towns handing out candy, popcorn and taking pictures with the children. Then, Santa Claus started using a motorcycle in 1997 to hand out candy and gifts. Today, we have a motorcade with more than 30 vehicles every year. Additionally, a team of amazing volunteers help distribute gifts, clothes and food to the needy children.

Our Supporters: Policia Militar de Minas Gerais, Policia Civil, Guarda Municipal de Belo Horizonte, Deputada Estadual Luzia Ferreira, Philippe Cândido, Escola Infantil Vovô Honorato, Escola Municipal Vicente Guimarães, Bar e Restaurante do boca, Supermercado Popular, Marciel JP, Dé do Bairro Santa Mônica, Reginaldo Dória, Sergio Calixto, e de moradores da nossa querida Venda Nova.

Thank You: As the founder and coordinator of "A True Christmas Project," I, Heleno Doria, would like to thank you for supporting our Christmas project for the children. Would you like to participate? The motorcade starts every December 25th around 10am in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. If you would like to volunteer, please join us. If you have not donated yet, please become a donor. If you have any questions, please contact Philippe Candido.
