"A True Christmas" Project 2014

"A TRUE CHRISTMAS" PROJECT

Can you imagine being a kid and not receiving a single present from Santa? In Brazil, millions of children that live in the favelas "shanty towns" do not receive a single present on Christmas day.

I would like to invite you once again this year to make sure that these Brazilian children receive a present on Christmas day. In 2013, we had one of our best years yet!  A total of 118 people in the U.S. participated to raise a total of $2,876, which was enough to buy presents for over 6,000 children!  It was a fantastic event and I was blessed to have been able to participate once again in person last year.

Together, we can support my family's "A True Christmas" project by raising funds to buy simple but meaningful presents for the children. Plastic soccer balls, dolls, hula-hoops and plastic trucks will be given out to the children on Christmas day.

Your contribution, any amount, will make a tremendous difference. A $2 donation, for instance, is enough to buy presents for 3 children! Please note that 100% of the funds will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for the children. My uncle started this project in 1997 and I have had the fantastic opportunity to help out many times while I lived in Brazil and when I visited during the holidays.

Please check out the blog, videos and pictures from previous years. Additionally, please check out our interview with NBC Boston in 2012.

Note: All funds raised here will be sent to my uncle in Brazil to buy presents for the children. He started this project with family, friends and friends of friends in 1997. This is not tax-deductible. My idea is that this personal fund will make it easier for my friends to donate to this project organized by my family. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will keep everyone updated with pictures and videos from the day of the event!

Even if you are unable to donate this year, thank you for reading about my family's Christmas project for the impoverished children of Brazil!

Thank you in advance. Happy Holidays!

About "A True Christmas" Project

A True Christmas Project's mission is to bring a smile to the needy children of the Brazilian shanty towns on Christmas day. We aim to reach as many children as possible every year by giving them simple but meaningful gifts on Christmas day. When a gift is not possible, Santa Claus is around to make the children laugh and give them hope for a better tomorrow. Everything started 25 years ago when Heleno Doria wanted to give the children the opportunity to take pictures with Santa Claus. Santa Claus started this project by simply walking around the shanty towns handing out candy, popcorn and taking pictures with the children. Then, Santa Claus started using a motorcycle in 1997 to hand out candy and gifts. Today, we have a motorcade with more than 30 vehicles every year. Additionally, a team of amazing volunteers help distribute gifts, clothes and food to the needy children.

Our Supporters: Policia Militar de Minas Gerais, Policia Civil, Guarda Municipal de Belo Horizonte, Deputada Estadual Luzia Ferreira, Philippe Cândido, Escola Infantil Vovô Honorato, Escola Municipal Vicente Guimarães, Bar e Restaurante do boca, Supermercado Popular, Marciel JP, Dé do Bairro Santa Mônica, Reginaldo Dória, Sergio Calixto, e de moradores da nossa querida Venda Nova.

Thank You: As the founder and coordinator of "A True Christmas Project," I, Heleno Dória, would like to thank you for supporting our Christmas project for the children. Would you like to participate? The motorcade starts every 12/25 around 10am in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. If you would like to volunteer, please join us. If you have not donated yet, please become a donor.
