April has always had a dream, a dream to open a foster home that has lots of space & room for kids to grow. Not a home filled with kids and their staff, but a home filled with kids and 2 parents and a family. She and her husband Kevin have been foster parents for over 15 years and have taken in over 30 children in that time. She was a bio-kid in a foster home since she was a young girl, so fostering has been an integral part of her life.
Their dream isn’t just about having a big home, it’s about making and designing a home that will be a foster home for the next 100 years. They’re building an attached suite for April’s parents & their foster kids to live in right now, so that they can help them as they get older and work towards the end of their fostering career. (31 years & counting) That suite will eventually become Kevin & April’s home. Once they come to the end of their fostering career, they will move into the suite and oversee the whole project. They will mentor a new set of foster parents that will move in and take their place ensuring that it will stay a home for many.
The goal is to be a home that has enough space and bedrooms that they can take in larger sibling groups. It is most definitely not your typical dream home, they are building a home that serves a greater purpose. They are building a safe & happy place. They are building The House for Many.
Kevin and April have taken a big leap of faith and have purchased a home on a piece of land, but it needs some work done. The house needs repairs and lots of furniture and appliances. It will need to have a large addition built on at a tremendous cost that they have decided to take on for themselves. They’re giving up vacations, expensive cars, and many luxuries so that this dream can take flight. The commitment they are making is massive, and we cannot believe all that they’re willing to give up just so they can help others.
As their friends, we’ve seen how they live their lives. They truly do make a difference every day and are very selfless and caring people. They put others before themselves and are huge givers in their community and amongst their friends. They are great supporters of the community, their friends, and anyone in need.
We want to help lighten their load and take some of the financial pressure off of them, so they don’t have to worry for the next 40 years. Let's support them. Your gift will help them help children and give children in need a place to call home.
