Actively Engaged Democracy Project

Since the 2016 election, we have seen incredible levels of grassroots activism.  Unfortunately, there were already signs of fatigue within six months after inauguration, much of it due to the duplication of efforts and inefficient coordination.  This includes individual groups creating their own independent sites, re-copying calls to action, events, information about members of Congress, etc.  

There was also a resounding rejection of the top-down political structures that appear to have little grasp of how to harness the power of these grassroots activists or truly hear their voices and concerns.  However, there are clear benefits to each type of political structure and this project is intended to bring the benefits of both together by creating a nationwide network.  

This project is to build an online platform, where there would be top-down guidance, but complete autonomy at each level, all the way down to the individual precincts.  At the same time, eliminating the duplication of efforts while providing tools for collaboration efforts.  In essence, consolidating into one platform what is now completely fragmented and disorganized.

In short, create a nationwide federated website network that offers template websites on the network to all groups across the country for those that choose to utilize it.  Ultimately, this online organizing platform will be designed to promote community building, honest debate, and encourage engagement in the political process to ensure that our voices are heard concerning the issues that affect us.

The name of this project is Actively Engaged Democracy, or AEDem for short.  I have already secured the domains www.AEDem.US and www.AEDemocracy.US
Building a federated network such as this requires LOTS of web design, programming,  and data entry time.  There are no existing website builder programs that can do what this project requires (even NationBuilder or WordPress) which is why the costs are so high.  The goal is to build it in stages and release additional features as we get additional funding.
