There are two things I distinctly remember from when I was a little girl: wanting my hair to be like Rapunzel's and desperately wanting an American Girl doll. Now, I'm 17 years old and I find myself in that same position. 5 months ago, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia--a type of cancer that requires a lot of chemotherapy, which, as you might know, will knock your hair right out. Like me, many little girls at the hospital I go to, go through chemotherapy that also knocks their hair out. Once again, I want my hair as long as possible, as do they.
Growing up, I remember how important it was to me that my American Girl's hair looked exactly like mine; it was very comforting to me to feel like a doll, my best friend, could look just like me. It reassured me that, in a world that can be so harsh, it really is more than enough to just be yourself. However, it occurs to me that most of the little girls around me don't have this comfort simply because of the fact that it is not the most usual thing to see a girl without any hair. So, once again, I find myself desperately wanting an American Girl doll. Or well, a few, to be precise. With your help, it would mean the world to me to give these girls a boost of confidence and give them a doll that does look just like them: beautiful even without hair.
With my friend Maria Restrepo, I am hoping to raise money to buy twenty of these dolls without hair for some of the girls at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Thank you so much for your contribution.

Hi everyone! Because you are all so amazing and generous, in less than 24 hours we not only reached our goal of $1,150 for ten dolls without hair, but surpassed it! Due to this extraordinary response, Maria and I think it would be a great moment to double our goal of ten dolls to twenty--to spread twice as much happiness to the girls at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. If you haven't donated, please consider doing so! The past hours have been proof of how much we can accomplish together, with your help we can accomplish even more. Your generosity makes all the difference. Thank you all so so so much!
