Help me Adopt my stepson

Hello, please let me tell you a little about myself. I am a disabled combat veteran that served for 14 years and reached the rank of SGT. Currently I have had my stepson Adam in my care along with his mothers for 10 years. His mother and I were together when Adam was just 6 months old, we unfortunately broke up when Adam was just a year and a half. The most wonderful time of my life was when his mother and I ran back into each other after 4 years. We got married in 2008 which brought Adam back into my life also.
Let me tell you about Adam. Back when he was a toddler his first steps were to me, as well as his first words DA-DA were to me. Adam has since grown into a very respectful, organized, goal minded young man. He is currently going to start his junior year in high school. He is a very smart student, and has his mind set on continuing his education after high school. He plans on going to the University of Michigan for Forensic Science. He loves playing PlayStation which he is a genius on.
Adam's biological father never wanted anything to do with him. As Adam grew older his mother and I tried to do everything to get his father to get to know him, but with no success. He even went as far as to block Adam from social media as well as never giving his address or phone number. His father had a massive heart attack which ended his life before Adam could even get confirmation that his father wanted anything to do with him nor even recognize Adam as his son.
Adam and myself have talked about this adoption at great lengths, and Adam has expressed the awesomeness (he is a 16 year old teenager) that it would be if I could be his legal father. Adam has always looked at me like dad so he wants this process to be done as soon as possible.
My wife and I have contacted a family lawyer in our area and she has given us the price that it would cost for the entire process to include her fees as well as all the court filing fees and misc costs that arise with an adoption. The lawyer also expressed her views on this case and would love to represent my wife, Adam, and I.
Our goal with this campaign is to hopefully raise enough money to get the ball rolling if not raise all the funds needed so that we do not have to stress about anything else and can concentrate on the legal portion of the adoption. I would not of had to make this campaign if I was able to work, but with my disabilities from military service I cannot, so that puts us on a very tight fixed income. My wife, Adam, and I would ask for you to find it in your heart to help us out.
