Free Ruben

On December 14th, 2018, Ruben Vera Perez was detained by ICE and taken to the Tacoma detention facility where he remains awaiting a bond hearing. His family was left destitute because Ruben was the breadwinner for the family.  Ruben has lived in this country undisturbed and undocumented and has worked and supported his family that whole time. His wife, children, and grandchildren are all United States citizens.

Having lived in the United States since he was 17, Ruben considers this his home. His wife, Maria, celebrated their 21st anniversary on January 22nd, the first one they have spent apart. Ruben's detention, just 160 miles from his family has put a real strain on everyone, especially his 4-year-old granddaughter who doesn't understand why her “Papa” just disappeared from her life.
