Historic Judd Estate at 980 High Street

Donation protected
The historic Judd estate on 980 High St.  is a special property to the Holland Hill district due to its history as a farm. The front of the property has a farmhouse and barn that was built in 1895. The middle of the property is an open meadow surrounded by mature trees and the back of the property is home to wetlands that are part of the Rooster River Watershed.

This bucolic property was bought by the Fairfield Housing Corporation with the purpose of developing 5 three-story tall apartment complexes under the 8-30g law.

Over the course of several months of study, the Fairfield Wetlands Committee voted to deny the developer a permit to build the current proposed 40 units which would have been within the 90 ft of upland wetlands jurisdiction.  We are pleased with this decision to protect this urban wetlands but the fight is far from over.

The developer will appeal the decision and is proceeding to the Planning and Zoning Commission to ask for zoning changes that would allow a development of this scope in a residential neighborhood.

We must continue to hire an attorney to represent our neighborhood at Planning and Zoning meetings. We are asking for supporters to please consider contributing to this next stage of the process.

We sincerely appreciate your support,  please spread the message.  Hopefully we can come together and stop this proposed rezoning and development.
