Bryce Newman Cancer Support Fund
While Bryce's concerns are just trying to get back to becoming his normal self as an honor roll student by joining his classmates at school, along with joining his teammates playing both baseball and football for his high school teams, his family's concerns are much greater.
Unfortunately for Bryce, because of the aggressive nature of this form of cancer, Bryce had a major setback and was forced to go back in for a follow up surgery on Friday, August 28th to remove tumors that had grown back on his brain. For those who are unaware Bryce has a very long and arduous road ahead of him as he undergoes both radiation and chemo therapies to cure himself of cancer. As most people can recognize medical costs and expenses, to the family, will be adding up rapidly along with the stress of caring for their only child.
Please pray for Bryce, his father, Rick, and his mother, Nicole, during this time and consider supporting them through this Go Fund Me page.
We will keep you updated on Bryce's progress as often as we can.
Thank you and God Bless!
PS - the pic above is a pic of Bryce literally 1 minute prior to him being wheeled chaired into the operating room for his 2nd brain surgery "which lasted 5 1/2hours" within 30 days. That is the kind of individual this child is, knowing he is about to go through the same hell as he went through just 28days earlier "that had him in ICU for a week" once again he is attacking it with a smile on his face and a dogged determination in his soul!!!
Well I wish I had better news but unfortunately I do not. Bryce finished his radiation and chemotherapies with the dogged determination that everyone knows about Bryce as he was vigorously exercising and eating healthy in order to join his friends back at school and on the athletic field. His last round of Chemo ended on March 11th and we were praying these horrible therapies that Bryce has had to endure would at least do their job and kill his cancer. Unfortunately they did not because it looks as if there was too much tumor left over in the tumor bed after his two surgeries and that made for a difficult time for the therapies to work effectively. Over the past 6 weeks Bryce's original symptoms started to come back "headaches and nausea" so we have been living in fear of his brain cancer recurring for these past 6 weeks as one could imagine. Well our worst fears came true on May 10th when his latest MRI results came back. Bryce's brain cancer is back and back in a big way and it just will not let go of him or giving him any mercy. Bryce's has now been deemed to have "technically" failed standard of care for Medulloblastoma Brain Cancer. So in order to save his life we are going to have to do things we had hoped that this day would never come.
As of now we turning over every rock and stone there is looking for a cure for him. We have been doing exhaustive research with the help of friends and we have found a couple of experimental clinical trials that with the help of God will save his life. Unfortunately for our beautiful angel that has had to endure so much over the past 8 months "2 brain surgeries - 20hours worth, radiation and chemotherapies" he will now have to endure even more suffering with another brain surgery along with what looks to be stem-cell replacement and more chemo as it stands right now. That being said things are extremely fluid right now as plans are literally changing by the hour so I will do my best to keep people up on what is happening. As I am sure everyone can understand Bryce is absolutely devastated by this latest news as he was doing everything "and more" the doctors were asking from him to get back to being normal. I do not understand what it is like to stare mortality in the face but my 16 year old angel does at this time. I have prayed everyday for God to allow me to switch places with him but he just is not listening.
I will do my best to keep people posted on this page as to what is happening but if you are also following what is happening on Bryce's facebook page that might be the best way to go.
Again thank you all for your love, thoughts, prayers and support as we are desperately trying to save our son.
Thank you and God Bless,
Well I wish this was a post that was good news but unfortunately it is not. Bryce finished Radiation therapy about a month ago and we have been waiting for MRI results that were scheduled for this past Thursday the 19th. Unfortunately the MRI results came back and they were not what we were hoping for.
It appears that there is still residual disease in the tumor bed and from what it is sounding like it maybe inoperable. The doctors are also concerned that his sugar levels in his spinal fluid are so low that it either could be from microscopic cancer cells or chronic infection. So all of this is extremely worrisome and makes this battle Bryce is in a lot more difficult for him along with what I believe will end of being a much more drawn out fight for his life..
We are supposed to be meeting with his entire Oncology team this upcoming Monday and it has been my experience that when doctor's want to meet with you in person rather than over the phone or through e-mail then it is a lot worse than they are saying.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts, support, love and prayers for Bryce and if I can please ask one more favor. Please, please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he really needs them.
Thank you and God Bless,
Bryce, Nicole & Newman
Thank you Tracy & Trevor and the Outlaw's for making Bryce feel welcome. Bryce also got to meet Mike Sweeney which he thought was really cool, Mike is part of the Outlaw group.
After that Bryce was pretty bushed so we went home he took a nap then woke up and hit the exercise bike because he plans on trying to do the race next year with Trevor, Mike, Glen and the rest of the Outlaws.
After that we sat down for some incredible BBQ ribs, ok not on his dietary plan but his Uncle Randy was in town so we could watch LSU beat up on Auburn and he earned a cheat day.
Again thank everyone for their thoughts, support and prayers we could not do this without your help.
Bryce, Nicole & Rick Newman
We also would like to thank Trevor Hoffman for Riding in "Pedal The Cause" tomorrow and having Bryce as the cancer patient that he is riding for.
I can't tell you what that means to us and for Bryce. Thank you and God Bless.

I continue to pray for you, Bryce and your parents. Stay positive. It is an uphill battle all the way but remember God is with you every step of the way. He loves you. I don't know why we have to go through these trials in life. I guess they are suppose to makes us stronger. You are young, and you have wonderful followers who are supporting you through this fight. Sending love, hugs, and prayers your way.
Bryce's story touched me because it reminded me of my Bryan's journey. My son was also diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor. He too was named his high school football team's honorary captain. Hang in there. Sending prayers and thoughts your way.
