My friend Sgt. Michael Steel gave me a call this morning. On an unrelated call by two of his officers (Officer Borrero and McKinney), they had discovered a family of 6 living out of a car. The mother, father, and 4 kids aged 7 months to 9 years were sleeping with the windows open in an industrial warehouse area.

The father had moved the family from Philadelphia to Miami after he got a job at Amazon in our neck of the woods. Instead of moving on or hassling them, Sgt. Michael Steel took it upon himself to take the family to breakfast (restaurant owner insisted on paying), bought them a hundred dollar's worth of toiletries, clothes, etc., worked with tire shops on one of our commercial properties - The Opa Locka Hialeah Flea Market - (tire shop owner insisted on paying) to replace their van's new tires; and wanted to see if we could possibly house them for 2-3 nights anywhere at the Flea Market.

With the help of my employees on the property; I made sure the family got shirts, luggage, food, housing, and free entrance to our entertainment zone.

But we still need your help. The father and mother are working very hard to provide for their young family of 4. While the mother is studying to re-certify her pharmaceutical license, the father is working 2 jobs (second job was found with the help of our golden-hearted cop!) and the kids are attending school.

We need your help in getting this family the push they need to find stable housing, pay for some car parts (their form of transportation for work & school), and food/essentials for the family.

Let's finish what Sgt. Michael Steel of the Opa Locka Police Department started, and show the hard-working family of Dwayne and Anieshea Eason what Miami is all about!

For what is life if not in the service of others?
