We Will Defeat You C#####.

Some of you know me and to those of you that do not, my name is Pennye. I am the mother of 6 wonderful children. My 3rd born Ari, who is 14 years old was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage 4B Cancer on,  October 24 2017. On Oct. 16, I took Ari to a follow-up doctor's appointment at which blood work and x-rays were ordered. At 5pm, her doctor called and informed me they seen mass around her heart on the x-ray. On Tuesday, they had found more mass around her liver and spleen. On Friday, Ari had a bone marrow and biopsy done, which took about 3 hours. Wednesday Oct 24, 2017, the doctor's confirm she had cancer. This has hit our family unexpectedly. I was turned down for the 12 weeks of FMLA and was only granted 30 day unpaid leave. Ari, has went through several blood transfusions already. Oct 25,2017 Ari started chemotherapy. Which could last about 6 to 7 months. This will then be followed by the radiation. The side effects from treatments and the cancer has left her home bound and she will not be allowed to return to school at this time. Ari is a sweet, kind hearted, shy, intelligent A-B honor roll kid. I feel as her mother that I need to be right at her side every step of the way.This has already been a learning experience for me. I've had to learn how to care for leave in ports and how to give certain meds. Never in my life would I have ever imagined having to be a Parent Of A Child With Cancer. This is treatable, but we have a long road ahead of us. If you or someone you know is able to help no matter the amount, we will forever be grateful!!
