Denisa’s Funeral Funds

$15,166 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 244 people in 8 months
Created September 8, 2018
Today, September 8th, 2018, Denisa, 25 years old, lost her battle with leukemia that she has fought for 13 years. Denisa and her mother came to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, from Romania, three months ago, in hopes of finding a cure. Six weeks ago Denisa was hospitalized and she never left the care facility since.
Denisa finished her third year of Medical School at Oradea Medical University in Romania. She wanted to be a hematologist, to help others fight cancer, with strength and hope, just like she did...she fought cancer three times, but cancer won the fourth time around...
Denisa passed away in the hospital with her mother by her side. In order for her to have a proper funeral, she needs to be transported back to Romania. we started this campaign to help our beloved Denisa and her grieving mother get back home, to Romania, from United States. Any donations are greatly appreciated!
May God rest Denisa in peace and give her grieving parents strength during these tragic moments.... God bless you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Good morning,

My family and I met Denisa Lazau and her mother online initially. We learned about her leukemia battle through my niece, medicine student as well, as Denisa was, going to the same University in Oradea, Romania.
When Denisa and her mom were approved to have a medical consult at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas, back in June, we immediately decide to offer her housing and food, help with transportation to and from clinic and everything we could do for them.
It’s how we started a great friendship with Denisa and her mother. Unfortunately, not even two weeks after they arrived, Denisa had been hospitalized and never left the facility alive. She initially was accepted at Methodist in the Medical Center, then she was transferred at Ben Taub, due to her limited funds and no insurance.
Denisa battled cancer there and her mom was by her side day and night. We visited them all the time, brought them food and other needs... the Romanian community started to get Involved the best they could, in helping them as well...
Denisa passed away on September 8th at Ben Taub hospital. She had to be transported back to Romania for an orthodox burial, per her wish and her mother’s.
We started this campaign on September 9th to ensure Denisa will get home and the expenses will be covered. Because the Romanian Consulate has to release a Romanian passport for deceased, the funeral home and the air fair costs were close to $20,000. We were able to raise about $15,000 to help them, the rest of the money being covered by her mother and father, borrowing money from other sources.
Please release the funds we have for Denisa’s funeral. Everything can be checked accordingly to the hospitals and funeral home as well.
We appreciate your moral support in our campaign.

Sincerely,
Denisa’s family and friends
