Beauty From Ashes

Hi. My name is Cherie Hudson. I own The Cutting Edge Salon and I have done hair here in Waco for nearly 25 years now. I have always had a passion for helping the needy, whether it be doing cut-a- thons for weather disasters or doing homeless haircuts with Haircuts for Humanity. Unfortunately every time we participate in doing homeless haircuts or haircuts for the needy, it’s generally outdoors in the weather. This makes it very hard as it’s usually cold, hot, windy, and sometimes rainy. Not only for the stylists but also for these precious people having to sit there and shiver or sweat with hair sticking to them. My dream has been to create an environment where they can come in, have their hair washed, and have a normal spa-like experience that most people in their situation may never get to experience. A mobile salon that we can take to any location. My plan is to gut and remodel a bus or shuttle van from the inside out, and make it a salon for those in need. I want to go on location, to women’s shelters, women’s job corp, homeless shelters, community events, etc.
Basically wherever the opportunity arises to bless others, give back to the community, and show God’s love to those in need.

Isaiah 61:3 To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORDfor the display of his splendor.
