Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues: I have been on an incredible mission for about a year now to purchase the childhood house of a friend that I went to Westinghouse High School with and to turn it into a Hospitality House in Homewood. I am almost there in terms of being able to pay for the house so that I own it outright but need your help in being able to finish this leg of the journey by the end of the year so I am hoping that this will work! Please know that any amount that you are able to contribute will be appreciated and that you too will be invited to the opening of the Monticello St. Hospitality House in the Spring! Right now the home is being occupied by myself, family and friends who are committed to fixing it up, being good neighbors ad being an asset to the entire Pittsburgh Community. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. If your would like to check out my professional and civic history, go to: www.linkedin.com/pub/celeste-taylor/4/4a1/726
Remember that the goal of the home is pretty simple. "Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer them space where change can take place."~Henri Nouwen.

Peace and love~Celeste Taylor

Happy Fall Dear Family, Friends and Supporters! Good news to share is that going into the third year of the establishment of the Monticello Street Hospitality House, we are on track to meet the fundraising goal of $4,000 per year on GoFundMe! This/GoFundMe along with rental income (1 vacancy currently available) and my part-time paid community work (looking for additional opportunities) has allowed this great enterprise to continue despite some challenges. With your ongoing support through donations, volunteering and good vibes, I look forward to continuing demonstrating that by living cooperatively, growing and sharing food, along with being a good neighbor...it is a very worthy venture! In addition to another program on November 11th with Mama Africa's Green Scouts, there will be a Kwanzaa celebration in December. Thank you. Peace!

Summer Greetings! Here is a picture of the new roof. I am so very grateful for the donations from family, friends, colleagues and neighbors that have supported the Homewood/Monticello Street Hospitality House for nearly two years! Come celebrate our success as a part of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th between 5-8pm along the 7000 block of Monticello Street which is near Westinghouse High School. You are invited to come enjoy good food from the community garden, music, dancing, poetry, raffles, games and receive important information related to community well being. With your ongoing support through donations and volunteering, I look forward to continuing demonstrating that living cooperatively, growing and sharing food, along with being a good neighbor, is a very worthy venture!

Thank you to those of you who recently responded to FB update I posted a few days ago. I still am in need of more support so I wanted to update all of my friends and supporters with the specifics of this recent request. The cost of the new roof was $5,600. I was able to use my savings to pay for $2,000 so that leaves me with a balance of $3,600 of which the $200 recently raised will go towards. I had a major setback with the elimination of my job at the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh on April 15th. In the past couple of weeks I have picked up consultant work related to gardening and community empowerment. I am rebounding well but it took a few months. ~~~Needing financial assistance with paying for the much needed new roof that has recently been put on the Monticello Street Hospitality House. You are invited to the Open House which will be held on National Night Out, August 4, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm. Enjoy food from the Community Garden and good times with neighbors and friends. Thank you so much for your wonderful support. Peace, Celeste Taylor~~~
