"Willie" the rescue horse - Kookynie

Donation protected

UPDATE....

It is with great sadness that Sherrie has passed away this morning at 4am.

RIP Sherrie 20.01.18.

**This campaign will remain OPEN so that we continue to raise money for Sherrie's big brother, Willie.  Please continue to spread the word, and donate etc, in honour of Sherrie. Every little bit helps and will help to alleviate the financial stress on his rescuers**

During this time, our thoughts are with Kevin and Margaret You both should be very proud of yourselves for showing Sherrie love and care.

I am so privileged to have met two very wonderful, selfless and humble people who cared so much for Sherrie, and showed her she was loved, before her time was up.

Funds will go towards the ongoing costs of ensuring that rescue horse Willie, is kept well, and in good health as he also endured a lot of trauma.

Kevin and Margaret, you are in our thoughts and thank you for showing the rest of us "how to be".

ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN POST

Yesterday, Monday the 15th January 2018, we called into the Kookynie Pub “The Grand Hotel” and met the owners, Margaret and Kevin. We noticed they had a “resident horse” onsite “Willie”. You couldn’t miss him. He was big, beautiful...and wanted us to know that it was his pub! Margaret and Kevin explained to us that Willie was rescued years ago. Clearly he had flourished and was there to stay. Last week, tiny horse, who they name “Sherrie”, was found in a river bed on the brink of death. As I understand it, Kevin went searching for her for hours. Finally he earnt her trust to take her into their care. We saw Sherrie yesterday and found it quite confronting the state she was in. Kevin explained that it was a massive improvement compared to her original state. The owners of this pub are amazing people, and told me they wouldn’t accept money from anyone, and will just continue to make do the best way they can. My plan is to raise money, contact Margaret and Kevin, and find out who they buy their feed, produce through, and hopefully have a good amount of $ placed in credit for them to help buy Sherrie’s food. Slowly her bones will disappear, and she will hopefully become a big gorgeous horse like Willie. It’s easy to forget about how other people live out in these small country towns. Whilst they forgo the modern conveniences that we have, clearly they make it up in selflessness, pride and heart. I plan to keep everyone in the loop about who the credit will be placed with in order to help feed, care for Sherrie. Fingers crossed that we can get a nice amount, together. Apologies if this seems vague, but like I said, we only called in yesterday hoping to meet Willie as my husband had met him previously (when he was passing through the town).
