It Takes A Village, UnKuhrupted
"It takes a village "... Together We Stand, is a group of neighborhood kids who has decided that maybe if we do for our community, our community will do for us! "We not bad kids, we just like having something to do!"

The kids involved in this movement are Travis, Demontae, Thomas and Alan. Well mannered, respectful kids who noticed that some of their neighbors are unable to maintain their yard due to various reasons. Some are elderly and their health prevents them from working in the heat, single family homes who can't afford the proper equipment, abandon homes that have been trashed and vandalized, especially in the west end. Among other struggles in their community, this neighborhood burden and eyesore effects these kids outlook on poverty within their community because they are exposed to it on a daily basis.
BOREDOM! When boredom strikes a child, they seek action. The type of action that the kids today are exposed to are not the positive actions that lead children into a productive lifestyle. With all the media, TV, and music influence that seem to raise our children, we tend to forget to teach our kids selfless acts of kindness, morals and values for life. Yes, money is good to have but at what cost is it not worth it? What happen to the respect and mentorship that we as humas, once displayed to ensure that our children and community is a safe place?
As the parent/guardians of these boys, my husband and I work hard to try to keep our boys busy and occupied and out of trouble. Giving our children expensive gifts and special rewards for staying out of trouble is fine. But what are we really teaching our kids if we just give them things to keep them out of trouble? Yes, they do chores around the house, bring home "ok" grades, respectful and well mannered. But what are we really teaching them? If you do what we say, you get what you want? NO! Absolutely not! This is what made us decide that we are going to teach our children to love thy neighbor. Rather they like it or not! Let's build a work ethic in our kids, create morals for them to help people only from the kindness of their hearts, teach them values that their life and freedom should not have a cost, give respect to all mankind without judgement because we don't know a person's journey! Lord knows, we all have a testimony!
Although, this cause was originally Travis' ideal, we are encouraging all young men to participate. We have offered to keep it more interesting, motivational and exciting for them. We have agreed to keep track of their donated labor and give them credit towards an annual chartered trip to Disney World! A charter sponsored by Empress Excursions to show, not only our kids, but the kids in our community that there is a world out here so much bigger than "our hood"!
Funding requested is from the free services reendered, you may have received a Together We Stand post card stating that service was provided requesting a donation only (NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED). Donations are used for equipment, maintenance, fuel and our 1st annual Disney World charter for any kid willing to donate their time for this cause.

I'd like to send them a box of safety glasses to use when they're using those string trimmers. How would I go about doing this? (a friend of mine is a retired eye surgeon. He's told me stories of having to remove eyes that were damaged by flying debris from these things)
We should try to to get together and raise $1000 to get these four business men new school clothes, shoes and schools supplies for back to school!!!! They deserve something in return and will feel great going back to school!!!!
Go big, and start planning on snow removal equipment!
i have shared this on facebook and challenged all of my fb friends to donate to this cause and with every donation, i will match it. these young men are doing our city proud and our nation by spreading love in a time when we need it most.
I would like to donate a shirt from my company www.imnice.com and customize a logo for their business. They can choose any design they'd like from the website and we even have a few other choices that haven't been released to the public yet. :)
What you and these young men are doing proves anyone is capable of giving! thank you!! I am a travel agent in Dallas and I'd like to offer to help you with that trip you promised the boys next year. Please message me and I will help you make this trip come true for these wonderful young men. I can find a way to get this at cost. Bless you all !!
I own a lawnservice and have A self propel lawn mower and blower I'd like to donate please contact me on facebook
While I love and appreciate the outpour of donations on this platform, I would like to challenge John Deere, Walmart, major shoe companies, Disney and the other big companies to make contributions into these young men of brand new equipment, school clothes, shoes, an all-expense paid Disney visit, etc. because these young men aren't asking for anything in return for their labor. They just want to help others and coming from the youth, that's PRICELESS!

I want to commend you young men for stepping up to help your community and fellow human beings. Most people your age would simply be inside on a computer/video game/cell phone/tv, but you have made a conscious choice to get outside and do good for others. You should be proud of the morals and selfless values your parents have instilled in you. They have set you on a wonderful path to a great and productive future. I truly wish more youth would look to you as an example of what they should be doing in their lives. I wish you and your families all the best in life and keep up the amazingly selfless acts of pure kindness because in this day and age it is a rarity and something you should cherish. I have a saying I've used for years and want to pass it on to you... Money is what makes the world go round, but love is what makes it worth living!!!! Best wishes, love and hugs to you all!!!!
This is so awesome! I commend you young men for taking pride in your community! Please stay hydrated out there, especially the one who plays football as well! Keep putting smiles on people's faces, God Sees it All! Have fun in Disney
