Quilts Of Hope makes personalized quilts for children with serious or chronic medical conditions. What makes our quilts so special is they are not only personalized with any theme your child picks out, but they also include messages of encouragement that i collect from family, friends, and supporters of your child. Family and friends email their messages to me and i write them on fabric with a special marker and turn them into a quilt for your child. The idea is while the child is in the hospital, going through tough treatments, or having a bad day they can wrap up in their special quilt and know how many people love and care for them.
Here is how it works. We have thousands of children referred to us so once your application is submitted your child's name is put in our lottery. Every time we have an opening on our waitlist a child's name is randomly chosen and they are added to our waitlist. We have 20 spots on our waitlist. When your child reaches number 10 on our list we start collecting messages from family and friends. This is all done through facebook and email. The quilts are free but we do ask that if possible each person submitting a message donate $1 or $2 towards the quilt to help with the costs. This is not required to have a message put on the quilt as i know not everyone can do this. If you would like to add your child to our quilt lottery there are two steps to get started.
